Anyone ever heard of a dog getting sick after eating a peeled, freshly cooked & cooled hard boiled egg? My male has done it twice now. The first time I thought it had to be a coincidence, that he must have gotten into something else somehow, but I gave him another one 2 days ago, crumbled into his kibble, & he was sick again. Two episodes of diarrhea, & then nothing, obviously not feeling well, gassy, then just at the point I was deciding to call the vet, he brightened, started acting like himself, no further problems. He was sick for just about as long as it took for that egg to clear his system. And the eggs were OK, my hubby had them for breakfast scrambled, no problem.......Today his stools were back to normal. Needless to say, he won't be getting any more eggs. All my other dogs relish them, & gobble them down like they were going out of style, & their coats are just gorgeous from them, I think they even shed less since they've been getting their eggs....but poor Beckett can't have any. I wonder what's up with him? jackie harris

Good morning Jackie,Yes it could very well be that he has an intolorance to eggs. Now what I'm wondering is if its the fat in the egg that upsets his system OR is it the egg in general? Is there egg powder in his kibble? What  fat percentage is his kibble? Those would be the things that I would try to figure out and as far as the egg goes, just DON'T give him any eggs. How is this little guy with chicken?Any sensitivities with that protein?Good luck with your dog and I hope it all works itself out for you guys.

AUNTIE JACKIE I AM SURPRISED THAT YOU HAVENT PICKED UP ON WHAT BECKETT IS TRYING TO TELL YOU. BECKETT WANTS TO EAT HIS EGGS WHEN THEY ARE IN YOUR ONE OF A KIND TATO SALAD. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FEED IN ANY OTHER MANNER.

Do they use eggs in dog vaccanations as they do in humans, if so I would want to do as Domenic  suggested and figure out what it is he is really allergic to/has a prolbem with.

I do believe that most vaccines are grown in eggs...but he recieved his vaccines this year with no problem....I realise that  any creature can become allergic to anything at any time in their life, but this just seems not to be an allergy, but a digestional thing.....anyone know if there are any precursor symptoms to EPI? That's kind of the type of thing I'm worried about. When I was feeding Orijen, I know it had egg protien in it, & he did well. But since we switched to Evo, I don't think egg protien is listed in the ingredients. He gets a pretty straight forward diet, I used to add yoghurt to his kibble but he started turning his nose up at it....maybe he knows something I don't about his system. When he eats just the Evo, his stools are tightly formed, odor free, small, he poops once a day, maybe twice.....but no cow patty or gray stools. He did have skin problems as a pup, & his coat has been a little dry, that's why I was trying him on the eggs. So,I guess maybe I'll have him tested, just to set my mind at ease....but are there any other, obscure things that I mightn't have heard of that any one can suggest, so I can ask the vet, since we're obviously looking at another appointment? It would be nice to cover all the bases in one trip, instead of going back 3 or 4 times! Thanks! jackie harris

Good Morning to you Domenic, And, I'm sorry Domenic, Beckett is almost 3 years old & about 90 pounds, at 25 & 3/4" tall at the withers, & very large boned, not over weight in any way. He tolerates chicken, chicken protien, & chicken based kibble just fine. The fat content in Evo is posted on Dogfoodratings.com, I thought I had the bag to reference, but my efficient husband got rid of it already. Thanks, jackie harris
