I just checked on petfinder.com, but couldn't find the dogs at the Dekalb County Animal that you are referring to. The have 9 GSDs there, but there is no reference to any of them being former K-9 dogs.  Is it possible a rescue group has already gotten them out of there?

Greatestgsd, and others;
I received the same email with photos, I do not believe they are retired or even K9 unit dogs, most are white GSD's and all are a sorry looking lot of poorly bred dogs. I will try to copy my email or if anyone wants to email me at
montanashepherds@yahoo.com I will be happy to forward the email to you. That is my old rescue email that sometimes gets odd requests...I have contacted them and told them that I would take the dog with the crippled foot and have not heard back from them. The dogs were supposed to be PTS October 2nd so if this is going to go anywhere we need to move fast...I do need someone to get the crippled foot one out so I can get it here somehow in Montana. Contact the martinez gal as stated above...
Thanks, Steph

These dogs are NOT Police K-9's. The shelter is using the fact that they are GSD's (and mixes) to say they have enough dogs to start a K-9 Unit. I repeat these dogs ARE NOT from a PD. One doesn't have a front foot! Two are mixes, one looks like a  Bi color, and the others are White.

They do need help ASAP as Dekalb does not keep the dogs too long.
