I saw this quote about one's dog which struck me as so very true. I thought I'd share it with the board:
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
It is not known who said this but it embodies for me the essence of my GSDs'.
Are there any other quotes relating to dogs that others feel describes their relationship with their dog/s?

I heard something (modified ??):
You know you have a special dog when you look into his/her eyes and see your best friend staring back at you.
I also like this one about horses:
"The outside of a horse is good for the inside of man".

Will Rogers said that one, Davren!
Somewhere I have a book called "The Perfect Match" which gives the characteristics of all the different breed. Under the description of the GSD it says something like one of the special things about the breed is 'looking into your dog's eyes, and knowing he would die for you."
It also says something about needing an industrial strength vacuum cleaner...

Here is one by James Thurber which, hopefully, will not start an argument on religion!
"If I have any beliefs about immortality, it is that certain dogs I have known will go to heaven, and very, very few persons."

What a great quote, I can't imagine anything better than that.
Thanks for sharing it with everyone.

Here are a few more quotes!
"The more people I meet the more I like my dog."
"In dog years I'm dead."
"My husband and I are either going to buy a dog or have a child. We can't decide whether to ruin our carpets or ruin our lives."
"To err is human, to forgive, canine."
"No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich."

Re: Max's description of Horand
Is this it?
“Clean and sinewy in build, the entire dog was one live wire! His character was on par with his exterior qualities, Marvelous in his obedient fidelity to his master, and above all else, the streight forward nature of a gentleman with boundless zest for living. Although untrained in puppyhood, nevertheless obedient to the slightest nod when at his masters side; but when left to himself, the maddest rascal, the wildest ruffian and incorrigible provoker of strife!”
