Hi,
I had some questions about supplements.
First, what exactly does kelp do? Does it just darken the coat colors?
Second, has anyone heard of the NaturVet brand? If so, is it good? Do brands really matter or are all of the supplements mostly the same?
I'm going to start supplementing my dogs and I want to make sure i'm getting them everything they need without overdoing it. I was thinking about using salmon oil, a hip and joint vitamin and maybe a daily all-around one, but I don't know if i would need that. And maybe kelp. Also, is there anything that should be given or not given to a pregnant bitch?
Thank you,
Haley

Kelp has Iodine and help permote good thyroid function.
Taste of the Wild feed with
1 fish oil cap
1/8 tsp SmartFlex Repair
Pregnant female is getting twice a day:
Taste fo the Wild feed with
1/4 cup liver - for red blood
1/4 cup heart - she likes it
1 tbl spoon active cluture yogurt per feeding - digestion
2 fish oil caps - vitamine E
1/8 tsp SmartFlex Repair - Joint stuff
1/8 cup of oat meal - folic acid
1 yard egg shell and all 2 or 3 times a week - good stuff + they will eat the shell if the feel like they need calcium
at 7 days to go, I will add raw goat' milk.
She gets extra TOTW, when she follows me around looking hungry......
A cbc panel was preformed yesterday and her blood levels are just fine, we have about 2 weeks to go.
How about every one else?
Not to give a pregnant bitch........too much calcium.

I do not like to give my dogs alot of supplements....especially when they are pregnant. I give my dogs 1 fish oil cap a day and also they get a kelp supplement called SOURCE.

No I do not feed puppy food when the dog is pregnant. I actually did not feed puppy food at all to my female. She had a litter of 11. I fed her her normal adult food and supplemented with Puppy Gold that I got from www.K9power.com . That was it. She did AWESOME with her litter and was able to feed them. I started feeding the pups at 3 weeks old.

You should not supplement a pregnant bitch with Vitamin A

After saying how wonderful Hanny is doing and the all her blood work was great, my vet suggested switching to puppy, and I cannot find a reason why. What I'm doing is working, seems a bit to change it now.
Thanks for the imput.
