Nice looking pup,
I use ( name first then come) and sit before the treat.
Avoid the street until the pup can be made car wise.
Your doing fine, just some of my suggestions.

he usually does sit when i call him. the thing he does now though is he anticipates commands. he tends to lay down after i tell him to sit.  we will work on that with my trainer.  as i said before, i am completely amazed at how fast this dog is learning.

as you guys probably know i'm a rookie at this and i appreciate all feedback.   Tom.

When he lays down move back and try again.
Place him in position a time or two.
Don't reward him unless he's correct, and as he improves replace treats with praise, spread the treats out until his reward comes at the end of the session instead of each task.
Use the collar and a leash, let him get used to being on a line even while he's playing.
A smart dog does anticipate, thats when you change the game a bit.
Keep him thinking, increase the challenge, make it fun and interesting.
If your working with a trainer perhaps you should just follow his advice instead of mine.....

Moons:  right now im working on getting him to sit from the down position and he is picking it up, not perfect but he's getting there.  a lot of what you are saying is the same that my trainer is saying. Good minds i guess.
