I would not only be asking for hips/elbow clearances but how about eye clearance?? Does anyone in the breed check the eyes?

You ever had a GSD that went blind from an inherited eye condition?
I've never heard of it happening in a GSD. I'm sure it's possible, of course. It's just pretty uncommon. Most breeders I know don't test for eye problems in the GSDs. I would, of course, if my vet noticed any issues, or if I noticed any problems in various activities.

Ask what you like,
I would want to see the dog in person and regardless of whats said I would want a contract especially in regards to condition, health etc.
If you can't see the dog or its out of country I would want the contract even more plus references.
I would want to know everything about the dog and the seller.

I have been in 4 car accidents (none I was the driver) since May 2009. DRs were talking surgery for my back & only kept giving me more & more pain killers. I am not much of a medicine person & taking pain killers & being drugged outta my mind laying in bed drooling was not & is not my idea of living. I was very worried about my dogs & did at one point a couple of months back advertise 2 puppies from a litter at a reduced rate for quick sale because I was scheduled for back surgery which had a recovery time of 12 weeks. But I found a DR who wants to & is getting to the root of the problem & I am making tremendous improvements with my neck & back without drugs or surgery. YAY!!
I do not have any adult dogs only 4 male puppies from my litter and am currently advertising one of those males for sale. I really only wish to keep 2 of the males but have had such a HARD time deciding which 2 to keep & which 2 to sale. My dogs live in my house but I do have 2-10x10 & a 15x15 kennel for outside time. I typically only have 2-3 dogs at a time & I have only bred 2 litters in 4 yrs. I am not a "kennel" but have no issues with those who do or are. My dogs are loved, spoiled & loyal members of our family.

11 by SitasMom on 27 September 2009 - 18:09 If you are considering this dog for future breeding, I would have a brucellosis test. As even maiden females could have been exposed. I would ask for a copy of all past health records and vaccinations. If the dog has been shown or trialed I would ask for its scorebook too. I would also have to completely trust the person/kennel selling the dog...... Contact information Disclaimer Privacy Statement Copyright Information Terms of Service Cookie policy ↑ Back to top |
