He's toyed with the food...but not had a whole meal yet.... Went outside and ate grass, then came in the house and puked! Guess he'll show me!

by decoyD on 06 September 2005 - 00:09

We cant do Aruba. Now that Van der Sloot and the Kalpoes are free, I cant take the chance of them making off with you girls. Bermuda triangle here we come.

HE ATE!!!! He ate everything in his bowl the minute I put it down!!! I almost broke earlier tho because of his eating grass and being sick..I knew he must have been miserable and I wanted SO BAD to give him anything he would eat! But I held out (mostly because of the shame of having to come on here and admit my guilt! LOL) Now....hopefully he will continue to eat! THANK YOU for the support! And...when's that trip? :)

blitzen has the right idea ...i do it in a more harsher method i guess is the correct word...i've had dogs come to me.... very finicky eaters ...i don't have time for that and it is a pain in the butt....the food is put down ..... unless it is eaten immediately ..it is picked up and there is no more thoughts of food for that dog until the next day...same procedure food down ...not eaten in two seconds ..gone until the next day ...it takes about three days until the dogs realizes that it best chow down instantly....the last dog was very finicky ..thin ..he now is knocking the bowl out of my hand to get to the food before it hits the floor.. it is somthing that has to be done...it will make the relationship with your dog much more enjoyable..just get tough do it and get it over with..the dog will be much better off..

Yipee..........oh, he'll try it again, constant reinforcement. You done GREAT!!! Just keep telling yourself that no healthy dog will ever starve himself. Now that you realize he's not going to die, the next step should be as IPHIS said, shorten the period of time you allow him to eat. Did he ever reach the son-of-chuckie-staredown? Hope he spared you that one; it's really creepy to see your trusted companion looking as if he wants to rip off your lips LOL. I'm ready to leave anytime and, as decoyD say, no Aruba though. I love Bermuda!!!!

by soothersmaylive on 06 September 2005 - 14:09

Well, today he only ate about 1/4 of his bowl...so I took it up RIGHT after he walked away from it....so he didn't have a chance to go back and 'graze'. He hadn't given me the Bride of Chuckie stare down until THAT POINT! You should have seen the look he gave! (actually, I guess you HAVE seen it!) LOL Hopefully this evening, he'll dive in...but we'll see. I have NO desire to go to Aruba either....but now, BERMUDA I could handle! Winter's around the corner...ugh!

another method that you can try is to fast the dog using Juilette de Barcilie Levy's fasting program... try www.natural rearing .com for the info...the dog will be cleansed, rejuvanated..healthier and will be ready to eat...hopefully ....quality dog food
