Well, this is what would you think question.
Once upon a time I had someone say to me about a dog. "Oh, you should take the dog to this guy" And they will work your dog for one month" " He charges 200 a month"  " He will make or brake your dog, he will work the dog to the point of breaking it"
I was just visiting a club and no one knew nothing of my dog. I never been there before in my life. I didn't know this guy also.
What would you think if someone said that to you only  seeing your dog one time?

It scared me terribly. I mean it sounded so fishy.

I wanted some honest opinions on this.
He has never been an accomplished trainer, no schooling, no championship winner so I don't know if those details would help any.

I never returned and don't plan on it.
I think I did the Right thing.

What was the person who did the referral? Breeder, trainer, just a bloke in a bar, neighbor down the streed?

What was your dog doing that was so bad that you couldn't do the "braking" your self? What was meant by "breaking point."

Yes sounds very fishy to me......

I want trained dogs, not "broken" dogs...

He was some guy who did training I guess.
But, really was more of a club member.  I am not sure of his professional level. I say just a basic trainer who might know some about schutzhund.

My dog is defensive, yes, but no reason to smash her.
And that night , I have never seen anyone try to make a dog more defensive as that.
The dog did nothing wrong.  He was so close the dog couldn't bite, he was almost touching my body, and the dog was standing on top of my foot. Never knew what he was trying to do.
Figured he was trying to mess my dog up.

But, make or break a dog is very fishy.

I got out of there.

Wondered if anyone would even do that to their dog, make or break. Working to the point of breaking. That sounds too crazy to me.

I think someone was off their rocker.
Just wanted some views on that kind of statements.

In my opinion, you work with the dog, not againist it or break the dog. Breaking it used on horses, even then, you should work with the horse.

I'm very confused, I must be missing something.

My dog is defensive, yes, but no reason to smash her.

You lost me here.  How was the guy so close the dog couldn't bite?
