DebiSue

I talked to Steph of Montana GSD rescue last night and thought you might want to know what has happened to her and why we haven't heard from her lately.

She was kicked in the head by a friend's horse and ended up spending several days in the hospital.  It is a wonder she is alive.  She has no recollection of what happened, just what people have told her.  She sent me a pic via email and it's not purty!

Apparently alone, looking after a friend's horses, she was kicked on the right side of her head.  She somehow managed to get inside her friend's house and call another friend.  She told that friend she was hurt bad and needed help right now.  When her friend asked her where she was she replied she didn't know.  That friend kept her on the phone and figured out where she was and was able to get her to the hospital.  She was transferred to another hospital and it was determined she had fractures in her temple bone, upper & lower jaw bones and massive bruising.  She is also blind in her right eye which now crosses over.  She won't know for 6mo if she will regain that sight.  It will take phys therapy to get the eye to look forward or track properly.  She is on soft foods and liquids as chewing could further damage her jaws.  Her brother and his girlfriend came from out of state to help her for a couple of weeks.  She has trouble seeing so I am enlarging the font to make it easier for her to read anything I post.  She did give me permission to tell you all what happened.

I am sure she would love to hear from you.  I am also sure if anyone was planning on visiting her anytime in the next few months would be appreciated as I don't know how she is going to manage when her brother goes home.

Hang in there Steph!
We love you for who you are and what you do for unwanted GSD.

How awful.  Sending good vibes from the East that Steph has a rapid and full recovery.

Horse kicks can be so dreadful.  Thank goodness she was able to get to the telephone.

Oh, my goodness.  How can the universe deal a hand like that to such a person? My thoughts are with her and I wish her a speedy and full recovery.
