Belgian Malinois and ..? - Page 1

This is a Belgian Malinois mix we are strongly considering adopting.  He has a nice temperament, is young (8-10 months they guess) and our female GSD took an immediate like to him.  We are curious as to what he's mixed with though.  He's pretty small - about the size of a Border Collie.  His long straight coat and ears are reminiscent of a BC also, though I am not familiar enough with the breed to believe my guess is on target.  We'll probably do a breed DNA test if we adopt him but I thought maybe someone here had some educated guesses just for curiosity's sake.  Thanks!

I can't say what the mix is, as the ears are down and could be a shepherd mix. DNA testing could clarify the mix, if any. Don't worry about the size. My first Belgian was about the same size at he same age, and after a few years was 27 1/2 inches at the shoulder and about 85 lbs. But, you can certainly see the Malinois in him.

Regardless of the breed mix. It is the dog's character that makes him special. Simon was a Belgian Sheepdog rescue. His vet files that came with him, recognized him as a GSD mix. The DNA test showed him to be purebred GSD. While not even a good conformation (carries his tail too high), Simon was a sad lot; and although he was about 2 1/2 years old when I got him last February, he is now one of the best dogs I have ever had. Spoiled rotten, and loving every minute of it.

He looks like a malinois/shepherd mix - certain lines of GSD produce floppy ears. I think a DNA analysis might be very interesting - you might be surprised by what shows up. Very handsome guy!

My guess would be GSD & Mal mix..?....something about the "profile" shot.

I am going to say he is a BMali,   wait until he sheds his first coat.  I have seen different hair coats in the same litter before.

Some Lab in there too I bet.

I don't see the Lab but anything is possible.

Now these 2 males GSD mixes are at the same rescue and I definitely see Lab in them.  They are about 4 months old.  I wonder what else was mixed in there though to make for such a considerable size difference between litter mates.  I suspect the one on the right will hit 100 lbs. or close to it.
