Hey everyone, I have a 10 week old pup that has a very high energy and drive level. In addition to playing tug, ball, and going on walks, what are some toys and mentally stimulating items to make to keep her busy? Thanks! Theresa

There is a plush cube that has openings on each side and plush squeeky balls that you show to the pup then push them into the cube.  It is amazing to watch their little brains working and when they finally figure it out they are so excited.  You'll find yourself having to put the balls back more often than you think.  In fact...some dogs figure out how to put them back inside the cube themselves.  Not too long after that they try to eat the cube and just chase the balls around the house.  You can find this in Omaha Vaccine's catalog and at most dog shows or anywhere they have booths with doggie toys.  There is also a tree with squeeky squirrels and I think I recently saw new similiar items.   This would be perfect for your pup.  I hope you are able to find these items.  Be sure to have your video ready.

Plastic bottle 1/2 full of liquid & veg colouring - it wobbles when lifted by the puppy, and they love to throw it around (outside game of course)  -  upturned plastic shallow dish on plast surface with little treat underneath - survace has to be smooth so that it wont flip over easily.   Ball-cock (one that you can by from DIY stores for your toilet cistern - too big to grasp, unbreakable, and makes a noise as they chase it around trying to get hold of it...  Set of obselete keys on a safe ring - teaches pup to pick up odd and meteal objects...  Bike tyre, they can just about drag it around..... charity shosp sell lots of Fisher Price baby toys with different textures and squeaks....

A kiddie pool with or without water (noise, texture, jumping, and water if you choose makes a ball more challenging)
Mine love empty two liter bottles (lots of noise and light weight for tossing about, disposable)
A basket ball, too big to pick up must be chased and pushed until the pup gets big enough to grab it or flatten it....:)
They also love the lawn sprinkler.
Hanging things (tug toys, leather, old socks knotted up, add a spring or bungee for pulling)
A tube or tunnel (build it or buy one but remember the pup may out grow it) , throw a ball in it or pull a toy through it.
Or half bury a tire or tires in the ground.
A low table or platform (climbing , crawling under)  can be made from anything.
Short walls (placed so the pup must go over to reach a toy or move from one areas to another)
Holes, dogs love holes.  It can be dug or make a dirt box, no sand ! (this ones iffy)

Please beware of squeaky toys, the dog can tear out the squeaker and choke on it.

Finally you, you are an excellent toy to play with.
I like to play fight and wrestle with puppies, show them what human hands are capable of, it is valuable information to the pup.
A sleeve doesn't fight back or react, doesn't grab or push.
Hide treats, in the tube, under the table, in the hole, or just hide them in a play area or yard.   You can hide them under anything and have the same objects mingled in with no treat all the same objects.
Use your imagination and things that won't cost an arm and leg.

I cut  3" pvc into  foot long  pieces for them to play with while in play pens and cow hooves made in the USA also give them something to chew on that cannot break off...in big hunks..

Big rope  used for  dock tie off or tie off, cut in 2 ft length and put a knot in the middle
I use it for tug ,then i let pup play with it alone..

Kongs

Plastic coke bottle are too dangerous and my pups chew off the ends immediately so I only throw them once of twice for the crunch noise and after a few times    put up...they are too aggressive with their chew...

I do give them an empty milk carten..the half gallon ones are big enough to last one afternoon.....then remove...they bat them around trying to capture them...

Ball from Walmart that has the light inside of it when movement happens..This ball is so hard they cannot bite it or destroy it....and at night  you can see it as it lands .
