Pics: Bad Demodectic Mange *Graphic* - Page 1

This is the doberman I rescued several years ago when I first got her. It was a TON of work every day and many  trips to the vet to get her healthy and happy. I found her on a message board, the neighbors of the original owner had been feeding her and they (original owners) agreed she could be given away.
Nearly everyone on that message board told me NOT to take her because of her health problems, but mainly because she was terrified of everything and starting to become aggressive. I had her turned around in about 2 months and she loved my kids and me, though she was always weary of strangers and wasn't overly fond of men, including my husband though I feel she did show him kindness in allowing him to pet her occasionally. A doggy Thank You, I guess.
I didn't have a digital camera for a LONG time so I don't have any happy ending pictures to share. But she DID heal 100% and became a wonderful companion. She died from cancer last year at about 5-6 years old. She is dearly missed by all of us.

Seeing those photos brought tears to my eyes. I am so glad you rescued her. She may have died prematurely from cancer, but I'd hate to think of what her fate would've been had you not adopted her. You gave her many wonderful, love filled, happy years. Thank you for having such compassion, dedication and for taking a chance at saving a dog no one else wanted.

Saved just before she turned two. These were taken a couple months before she died. You can see the bald pattern along her back. The "peach fuzz" was better than we'd hoped for.

Oh wow! I can't believe the resemblence! I asked about the tail in pm, but your girl's doesn't look like my girl's did. I still wonder if it was the same breeder :-(

Wouldn't surprise me if it was the same breeder. The changing peach fuzz patterns were pretty cool. Never the same each year.

I found a couple pics. Not great but you can kind of see the long dock job on the tail. If I remember right, it was 4 joints long. He was about 11 or 12 years old in these pics.Was related to the red female. May have even been the same breeder but I have no idea. I don't have his papers anymore. No demodex in his litter. He was 14 almost 15 when he died. His red littermate brother had cancer, died at 5 years old. Another black had huge benign fatty tumors, lived til 13. BTW, the red female above passed away just last year.  It may take me a little while but I'll find her AKC papers for you.
