Puppy Names for Registration - Page 1

Do you register the puppies in your litter with names that you pick out or those their owners pick out?

Usually I pick the names and the puppies are registered before being sold, but sometimes if the puppy has been reserved for sometime before, I ask the owners if they would like to chose the name according to the letter of that litter (sometimes they want to choose, sometimes not), or if I have already sent off the names I will show the list to the new owners so they can chose the name they like best for their puppy before we tattoo them. Most owners keep using the registered name for their pup but a few give it a totally different call name when it goes home.

My breeder has an assigned litter letter, and allows me to choose the registered name. When I breed a litter I think I will do the same :-) Gives the new owner a little challenge lol. Plus you can save all your favorite names for your keepers
