Jabina Falco Pup questions - Page 1

I bought a Jabina Falco / Mayla male pup for my girl friend. We need a few pointers on when to start his formal training. It looks like the closest Shuts Club is in Birmingham,AL and we are near Meridian, MS 150 miles away. We have a five year old female that is not near this quality that we use for tracking missing people with our Volunteer Fire & Rescue. Should we maybe seek out a trainer & who can we trust? We are honest beginners wanting the best for the pup.

'happyday" (who post here) is also a member of CASC and also has a Falco pup.

Come up and visit, there is a trail this weekend, (9-19-09).

It is a long haul for you, so it's a decision you will have to make, but I can assure you that we will enjoy meeting you and your pup.

Thanks for your response and invite. We both drive for Fedex Home Delivery and we are trying to get two drivers to work for us so maybe Saturday we can come over. Keeping our fingers crossed.

You could contact Randy Hare in Jackson. Alpha Canine Training Center Jackson, Mississippi 601-368-9944 I don't think he has a protection club anymore but Randy could probably help you find someone closer to help you with the imprinting and foundation work. But, if you are interested in schutzhund Birmingham will be the nearest formal club. I  have a deposit on a Jabina Falco pup now. Will pick  her up the first week in November. I live 60 miles south of Meridian. Have tried to find people in state interested but no luck. Nothing got pass the talking stage. There's a lady near Hattiesburg that has talked about starting a French or Mondio Ring club if she could find enough people.

Good afternoon. There is a DVG Club on the outskirts of Mobile, which I believe is a shorter drive than B-Ham. However, the training days usually vary per week, which might be difficult on your schedule. Congrats on pup! I'm sure that you're going to enjoy him!

Many thanks to everyone who responed to our question. Kathy has already spoken to the Randy Hare team & Kathy Doty. Kathy invited us to bring Trax to a training session at Holly Springs, MS in early October and they can evaluate him there. I may be able to bring him to B'Ham Saturday if my releif driver can work...
