I think that anyone who outright is asking for a specific color as stated ....... I read it as a desparation move in trying to find a black  DSH ...... would not know what the pedigrees would mean any way ..... further if I was back into breeding I would not sell a pup to someone "scrambling" to find a one color dog .....  Greg

Maybe this person just wants to locate breeders of black pups.He might tell the breeder what he needs in a dog once he has a few to talk to.Don't assume nothing else matters to him simply because he likes a particular color. He's been a member of this board since Jan 2008,do you think thats because he likes black dogs.

IMHO there's nothing wrong with wanting a shep that has a particular coat length, coat colour, any more than anyone wanting a dog from a particular bloodline.

We all have our reasons for wanting a particular  type of shep.  I too am a complete sucker for a long coated solid black, and I waited years before the pup in my avatar came along.

A good, upstanding solid black shep is a beautiful thing to see, again IMO.  My only worry with this would be that those breeders who breed specifically for coat length, coat colour etc, may put those traits over possible genetic 'risks' and not DNA test, or ensure hip scores and elbow scores were 'good.' thus not ensuring that the parents were of decent quality for breeding.

Over here in the UK, solid  Blues have become popular over the last few years. I know some breeders who are producing blues are producing good stock, but i've also heard of a couple who are pushing the boundaries a bit, getting colour at the expense of health and conformation.  None of them I've seen are showline, but not everybody wants to show..

Oops, Freda, sorry about that..  meant to add a little more, but my puter skills aren't my greatest asset
His is Bozeta breeding, you could Google Bozeta GSD, they're from England, but not sure if they're still breeding as one Mr Burrett sadly died last year. But on the website are pics of some of his relatives.
Hope this is of some help

What a beautiful dog, Maggie!  I am sure you must be very proud to him down the street.  Thank you for sharing him with us.
