Hi...Im hoping someone might have an idea as to whats going on with my female Gali...she's 2 years old this past May...Anyway, Gali has been sick for about two months now. Me aswell as her vet cant seem to figure out whats going on with her. Seems like she is just not absorbing/maintaing anything she eats....she is losing an aweful lot of weight and has diarea. I have had her checked for parasites, we wormed her twice with Panacur....weve have tried three rounds of abtibiotics,,,which helps while she is on them but a few days after she finishes the dosage she is back with the diarea....we did two blood test they only showed a slight elevated liver and we are giving her liver supplements twice a day...I have swithed her normal diet to a bland one with just one feeding a day of her kibble (taste of the wild) and the rest being rice, Beans and ground turkey or chicken, beef,. some potatoes..eggs a few times a week...youghurt...etc...you name it nothing is helping her to pick up weight and staying in her..for long. She doesnt show any blood in her stool just plain old diarea....she is eating like normal...active...seems personality wise the same, and doesnt seem like she is suffering...yet......just she is looking like a starved dog who wont keep anything in...I hope someone might have some suggestions as to what might be going on or what may help her....she's my baby and I am really worried I may have to put her down if this continues...thanks for any input, I appreciate it.

Has she been checked for EPI?

Differential diagnoses might be....
parasitic (try fenbendazole, 50mg.kg for 5 days).
  EPI- test TLI and panel
  partial blockage (barium series)
  cancer
  mega-e (barium)

Check out the table at the bottom of this page (table 2)....

Pancreatic Insuficiency.

My dog died of the same thing.  He did not respond to treatment, had to put him down.  Have them treat her for this, it wont hurt her if its not her pancreas.

In order to rule out EPI the vet needs to do a TLI test specifically for EPI.  Here's a web site that may give you some additional information.  I don't have the medical background to give you more specifics.  Maybe Louise Penery is lurking and will jump in and give you the scoop on this.

http://www.wsgenetics.org/epi.htm

There are many more sites around with lots of information.  Just google EPI.

Good luck to you and your dog.

It isn't always fatal.  Many many dogs live normal lives with this disease.

Thank you for that chart I just read it and it sure does sound like the pancreas to me...Im going to have her tested again for that...its got to be that...it sounds like it to a tea....The symptoms.,color, just everything, sounds like that is what it is. Thank you all for respong to my msg...I do appreciate it.

When you have your dog evaluated for EPI via TLI testing, be sure  to have her checked for SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.
