Pfizer manufactures Vanguard
Fort Doge manufactures Duramune which has alot of reactions!
When I have to vaccinate, I use the Pfizer Vanguard. I have not had a problem. The only times I have seen a vaccine reaction it was from the Duramune.

About 18 years or so ago I had bad canine parvo problem. No matter what brand I have vaccinated and how often, and future mothers and I did some other crazy things like put plasma from dog which had parvo and recovered into the sick pups via IV. Nothing worked. At one point I got phone number to Ft Dodge research center and they told me not to use their vaccine since it is obsolete. In other words it immunized against parvo strain which mutated into something completely different now.
And they recommended Proguard by INTERVET. It is possible that other brands are doing the same now. Pfizer seems to be OK now too. But since I started using Proguard by Intervet I had no parvo problem. That is my experience and it may not work for you. Parvo mutates very fast and may have regional strains.

Oh also something to think about. In CZECH when I was there and when I was kid, they did not immunize dogs. No money, no means. I remember, when I was a kid, I was playing with my neighbor's pups and he said:"Do not get attached to them they did not have a 'dog disease' yet." What that meant was, that they are going to get sick and some of them will die. However the ones who survived had strong immune system and when bred passed it on the progeny. Now do it for tens of generations and you will get some immune system- vise strong dogs. That is one of the aspect of Czech dogs; they still have stronger immune system, even so they in Czech now also immunize. Keep in mind that by immunizing you are supporting dogs which would normally die. Now they don't die and if they breed then they are passing down the line their weak immune system.
I immunize now too. I just do not have the nerves to see pups dying. But it is cheating and cheating does not pay off in the long run.
For the sake of the GSD
