Hi all, I live in an area limited in dog training venues. The "helper" that I know and like does not live close by at all.
This person, http://timsk9.com/index_files/Page1215.htm , has been mentioned to me by several people and I wanted to ask opinions from some others. What are your thoughts on the helper/decoy work? There are vids posted at the bottom of the linked page.
Would you have this person work your dog? Why or why not?
I have worked my dogs in schutzhund, but was told this trainer is more "KNPV" style.

Further there was nothing that even slighly resembled KNPV all I saw was forearm sleve bites...... and work on a back tie.
As much as it may seem the helper is just the guy who stand there and gets bit, they have such a HUGE roll in the training of your dog and if you don't agree with or like the style of training why bother.
Keeping looking or save your time and money and travel to the helper that you like and make a long weekend of it.
IMHO I have come to the conclusion that less frequent but better (higher quality)training session in protection is the way to go. It might take longer to reach your goals but the experince will be better for you and the dog.
But maybe the videos we just poorly done and the guy has a sterling personality and is really great, I don't know. Go meet him in person, don't bring your dog and see what you think.

Tim : I think people may think you are Tim Helser and he has a nasty reputation here..you might consider making yourself known here and use a different MO... I immediately thought the same thing. This is not anyone you want to think you are him.....I see a problem here...very big one...I believe he at one time used Timk9 as he has used many alias and many titles and names and webnames...
Thanks and good LUCK..
The poster should have made more facts clear as to where you live and a website to clear this up better...she may not know about two name similiar. too close in my books ...

just get references is my advice.
Titles are an indication of dedication and love of dogs and the sport.
I wasnt crazy about the helper work, but I have seen worse.
If none present, it might be wise to find another trainer.
Lots of scams out there, ruined dogs, money wasted.
Been there, done that.
Best of luck
