You Guys may remember a week or so ago i said Izzy was 15 weeks Old, Well the way i counted it was the days in each month from birth so she was born on 15th May 2009, so when the 15th of September comes here in a week or so time i say she will be well over 16 weeks old
My Brother says on the 15th September she will be 4 months old, He said people do not go around and say how old a Pup is in weeks that is silly
If a person says a Pup is 4 months old they do not bother about a week extra or so they may in another week or so if the date has gone by into another month say then the Pup is 5 months old
What is the way you look at it, probably as he says i am going a little senile in my way of thinking. if you Guys agree with him i will take no offense, but will begin to start thinking a little bit, how much further i have to go towards the end of the road

Steve:

When there little I refer to them either way weeks or month,s? no big deal. Your not going senile. I don,t know if your brother is married or not but if he isn,t think of this maybe it,s just easier for your brother to look at time like this. " I havent known a women in 9 months" instead of " I havent known a women in 36 weeks"      the first just sounds better?  I hope you take this as the joke it,s intended for.

For me it is weeks up until about 12 or 16 weeks ( the shot period)  after that it turns in to months just easlier to remember (cause every thing else in months Heart wormer, flea, rabbies at 6 months and ect.).

Steve,
Same for us......until about 14-16 weeks, everything is in reference to "weeks old"......after that, "months old"....just easier.
Also...some months are longer or shorter depending on the amount of days......so trying to keep track of age by "weeks" can really be a pain in the butt.
Just my thoughts,

I think people count in weeks and days, after pups are born, because from a developmental standpoint, things keep happening from day to day, or week to week, ie. eyes open, standing, sitting, first bark etc. When they get to about 16 weeks or 4 months, the development continues but the time between milestones is easier to measure in months. And as they get to the years stage, the milestones between development, (and aging) are greater still. You show the typical behavior of an adoring parent, who revels in each moment of their "child" and therefore sees each day as equal and special, no matter what they grow to do.

I count my puppy's age in weeks until I cant count any longer and have to use a calculator....lol

Weeks is more accurate in my opinion....

I agree with beetree- up to 16 weeks, it is counted in weeks, as the points of development tend to coincide with thw eeeks. Atwer 16 weeks, I start saying 4 months, 5 months, etc. Basically, after the teething is done=months. The milestones after that point are 12 months for a stamp, 18 months, 20 months 24 months ( OFA). After the hips are certified and thew dog has its first title, we change to years. :-)
