Where do you register your dog's tattoo number?

How old is the dog, is the dog an import?

She's 6 months old, not an import, and is not tattoo'd yet. I'll be having her spayed in a few months, and will be getting the tattoo done at the time. Just wondering where the best place to register the tattoo number is.
