Is there any recourse against a breeder selling dead GSD sperm.  I am embarrassed to say I fell for the web site advertisement twice.  It seems to be a respected well known kennel and the owner has a ton of clout.   The ad says they will ship chilled semen at no extra cost.  But I paid for the semen, collection, and shipping.  When it arrived my vet said it was not viable.  The kennel did not return calls at first but then did.   Next opportunity to breed I asked for more semen.  I was told I would have to pay for collection and shipping again.  Again dead semen.  My vet and I called the vet that collected, since I paid for the vet service I was provided a report that stated the owner had knowledge that the stud was only good for live coverage at best, and the collection was very painful for the stud.  The vet spun out the blood and shipped it as requested by the kennel.

Obviously I am upset that someone would put a dog through this twice.  The well known kennel refuses to refund my $$.  Is there anything that can be done?

To far away to go and demand refund.  Are there any rules with any of the dog club?.  They belong to all of them.  It seems so unfair.  Any advise would be great....

How can you tell if kennel is for real or just a fraud?   What is the proper way to handle this?  The male should not advertised if he is sick.  Any help would be great.  Thanks for you advise.  I love this place.    Linda

wow-

um, this is scary not sure how to put in to written words at the moment how I really feel, but hey the stud owner could try calling Jean Donaldson.

but seriously, your monetary loss is unfortunate but I'm more concerned for the quality of life this stud dog and the rest of the dogs in that kennel are subjected to.

I hope someone with more experince/insight can help with this situation more then I can.  Good luck.

if its here in the usa , i would contact AKC, this should not be happening.
they should do something about this .
now you cant really tell good kennels from bad ones,
reference or word of mouth maybe your best bet.

i am very picky about , when i go looking for stud service too cause you just dont know.
it is best to find a stud close by.

did they quarentte the seimen?

i hope you did not pay alot, cause if you have no paper work , i dont know what you can do in court.

i am sure AKC will look into this.

it does not sound like a good breeder.

Yeah I feel the same way.  Why would you do that to your dog?  My vet and I were appauled by the report sent to us.  The vet that collected made no excuses for the kennel.

I wish there was a place you could check a kennels history on line.  I would write a review to warn people.

Any ideas on how to stop this abuse and fraud would be great.

thats all you can do is warn other people about this kennel.
some people will do anything for money they dont care , its just money to them.
there are alot of kennels that are not honest out there.

Bea, I did pay plenty fort the service.  More than I ever had.  I do have all the paperwork and the agreement.  But it is many states away and I don't know if I can file something here or if it has to be there .    The worst for me is that the male is still offered for shipping.  And yes it is in the USA.
