Dear Sportsfriends,

SV-National Breed Warden Reinhardt Meyer has lead his judges into completing the hyena-profile of the GSD.
THIS IS NOT what we understand by improving the breed! We can do nothing but wonder, if it can go any further yet.

Although the maker of the video certainly had no intension whatsoever to prove my thesis, unvoluntarily he does. Do watch it, it's an eyecatcher, very well made, good music, and very, very sad!

Thanks to a GSD-fan from Holland who forwarded it to me, I can now offer it to this community:

Full credit for this wonderful footage must go to: EDUARDO DURÁN HAEDO.

If it hurts you as much as it hurts me, then please do react.

Regards!
Jantie

The only significant change I see is the upper thigh is becoming longer, reminiscent of American showlines. Definitely NOT a trend I want to see the SV copy!

Backs are getting a more moderate curve to them, which is good to see.

Jantie, can you elaborate on what you're seeing that upsets you?

I am seeing withers too high(is this possible? I think so),  and rears that do not balance the front.  dogs look like they have giraffe shoulders.  they even walk like them.  like the legs are made out of stilts.

Probably what Helmut Raiser calls a dog in the front and a frog in the rear - that dropped butt look which, come to think of it, DOES look a bit like a hyena!

I want to see them WORK. All 3 phases.

Everyone have right to think he s right but fact can't be deny some ppl call modern type of top line as hyena some thinks this type of top line more helpfull to transfer the power from hinds there s another contradiction abt too much long upperarms they can effect the elbows towards dysplastic or lose but v should consider abt the standard wt its said wen sv give trend long upperarm (more long then shoulder)then they realise its effect elbows so if something bad then time will prove n herr Meyer want to improve want to make gsd of his type then he have right becoz he was elected n organization gave right to him ,u ppl can see the era of peter mebler he wanted to vanished jeck line but he can't ursus came in his era n lines promoted by Peter mebler like Rikkor untox etc all ppl know so plz a time to herr Meyer to prove n I know him n his technique of breeding I can bet he will do this DON'T WORRY

Different ppl have different opinion some ppl think more refine top transmit the power from back to front more efficiantely . Some ppl thinks long upperarm can cover the more ground n show more reach but some thinks upperarm longer then shoulder a cause of elbow loseness or dysplastic these thing come s n goes so the result s ppl or breeder adopts only that things wch r good for breed n useless things automatically vanished. All saw the era of herr Mebler he promotes rikkor quartz n discourage jeck lines but ursus came becoz he had potential n v allsaw now where s herr Mebler promoted lines almost vanished . So plz give time to herr Meyer also to prove himself he s doing wt he thinks right for breed n sport in last years he successfully control the size he incourage those dogs who have lot of temperament n he s elected Breed wardon n he have right to do wt he thinks n ppl of gsd in germany have full confidence that's y he s there as a Zucht wardon n v all know it for all 3 phases the first thing s temprament n herr Meyer s so strict on it . Don't worry n just see wt he s doing.

I think the hyena has better conformation than some of the dogs I've seen at the BSZS - nice smooth topline, correct medium size.
Has awesome bitework.....
