I went to the vet to get Advantix for flea control tonight and while I was waiting I had a conversation with a lady that had a Doberman and we started talking about flea allergies on our dogs. She told me to save my money and put them on Garlic pills, she swears by it and said it has put an end to her flea problems. My question is, do any of you use it and is it safe?

IT WILL HELP CONTROL THE FLEA POPULATION. THE GARLIC GIVES THE FLEAS STANK BREATH. THIS TURNS THEM OFF AND KEEPS THEM FROM BREEDING.

The garlic has to be in the system for a couple of weeks to be effective.  And you should use it with caution, it can cause problems if overdosed.  Bug off garlic by Springtime is what I would recommend using. This website  will have more info.  http://www.springtimeinc.com/product/148/2

i had my first dog bandit (lab/gsd/husky) on brewer's yeast with garlic tablets when she was a puppy, and when i took my cats to the vet, they were crawling with fleas. i was surprised because they had flea collars on and they just laughed at me and said oh, those don't work. then a vet wanted to check bandit for fleas and i told him she didn't have any, that she was on brewer's yeast with garlic tablets. well he didn't believe me at all and went over her with a flea comb for a long time, looking more and more puzzled. finally he had to stop and admit there weren't any signs of fleas on her. so yeah, they def worked for me! right now tho i just sargent's flea and tick  (drops between the shoulder blades) the cats i have now, and hartz flea and tick spray the dogs as needed.

We have talked before about Garlic, It is benifical to the Dogs in moderation but not just for the use of controlling Fleas, there are products that do that job better, you just have to spend the money to get them
I use Garlic Tablets with Vitamin B in them one tablet 2 or 3 times a week with there food they eat it with the food other than that they get a Vitamin E capsule and  spoon of Hokamix Joint Powder on there food every morning with a squirt of Salmon Oil, Izzy gets one third of a Spoon due to her age, Anyone can see how Gorans Coat shines look at it as he goes over the Meter Jump on the thread on the General  Forum his coat shines like a new penny, and his eyes are clear and bright with a black moist nose all down to the feeding and a few basic supplements
