Hello, dude, I am not american and I have no knowledge of American laws, but if your friend has the two puppies as promised, I think that the demand is problem of the seller and not of your friend. I would tell your friend to let the breeder to handle alone the case, your buddy can not be sued because he is a buyer. And I would not give another cent to the breedr.
Best regards.
Best regards.

sounds to me like this breeder has gotten in over his head and committed to too many people.
as my grandmother would say, don't count your chickens before they hatch.
your friend has no obligation to help this breeder out. he's already went beyond the normal breeder/buyer relationship.

friend needs to tell the breeder that his problems are his own - friend received the two puppies he was promised in exchange for monies paid out by friend - he should be thankful that he has the two puppies in hand. Hopefully he has the paperwork/registrations for the puppies signed and etc. This should be the end of the story - tell friend to keep the two puppies, and tell the breeder nicely that he is not interested in any more dealings with breeder. This should be the end of this story, unless the person who wants to sue the breeder comes on here complaining - but the breeders' problems are his own - friend has been nice enough already and he is lucky he wasn't scammed out of all of his money, sounds like he would have been.

I say, let that woman take him to court! It's not your friends fault that breeder can't keep things in order. If he/she is happy wtih the puppies that they have then so be it. Not his/her problem. It's the breeders problem. Let 'em fix it. Not up to your friend to fix it! Breeder should have been up on everything! Something just doesn't seem right to me.

Not sure how I'd deal with it now, since honestly I don't think I would ever have put a deposit on a litter that hadn't even been decided yet (sounds like he put down a deposit at the SS based on the male but did not know anything about the female?).
I'd say your friend definitely has no obligation to give either puppy back just to bail out the breeder. How many bail outs do these people need? Mind PMing me the breeder/kennel so I can avoid in the future? Sheesh.
The one thing that could clear things up would be more info on the contracts. Why is the other woman suing for a puppy? Did she have a contract stating that a deposit = a puppy? Did your friend sign any contract based on the original dam?

Your friend has already been a fool dealing with this breeder. Fortunately, apparently, he has two puppies from the breeding he wanted a pup from (????not clearif it IS the correct dam). Assuming he has the peperwork for the pups, he should consider himself lucky and cut ties with this breeder. He has NO obligation to him/her and if the breeder IS sued, TOUGH--he/she probably deserves to be and I hope it puts him/her out of the breeding business.
¶Question: DID he get puppies from the "originally" referenced bitch, or not? Sounds like there may be some shenanigans there, too.

Tell your friend to get his dogs registered in his name and make sure he safely puts paperwork away in safe place..I see no reason to be involved with this breeder any longer...just tell her nicely..I am sorry but i have what I paid for and agreed upon, and I am no longer involved with you...end of story...hope their were no more contracts stating any lease or co owned...never never do business like this...buy a pup ,,then make payment for what you bought...never heard of such shenigans.....wow... MOlly is correct....run run as fast as you can......do not continue to talk to this breeder..you may because you are a weak vessel and not experienced in sales ...get rooked again....cut off your conversations..hope the two you bought are actually from the dogs you thought they were/
