Took my girl to the vet today because one of her eyes had a strange white circle in the center. The vet was unconcerned, diagnosing "corneal dystrophy" - some kind of calcium deposit. She thought it might just go away. Just told me to monitor it. She informed me that happened to her own dog. She said it was likely not the type that would cause blindness or get worse, likely, but to keep an eye on it.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

The only dog I had with corneal dystrophy was just in the one eye he had surgery for cataract removal, the cornea clouded over about 10months after surgery and he became completely blind in that eye. Not that it made any difference to the dog he adapted to his impairment.

Hi Wildmoor - my dog just appeared with this about two weeks ago. I thought she had caught her eye on a branch or stick, because she's always running full blast in the woods. It doesn't seem to bother her at all. I just noticed it when the sun was in her eye the other day. I will keep monitoring it - vet said an opthamologist would be required if it turned out to be the "bad" kind.
