Does anybody have a GS with EPI? My dog was dx with this about 8 months ago. She finally is at 74 pounds. I just bought her a new found from Neturo for Sensitive stomach and skin. The RX food from purena EN that she was on was doing o.k. however, he coat has lost it's lusture. The Vet told me about the Neturo and that the fat content needs to be low. I also sprinkle the power on her food called Pancre Ved. It's expensive, but it is what she needs. Just wondering what other people are doing with the precious one with the same condition.

Dodie,
My German Shepherd is 11 years old. She just turned 11 this month on the 23rd. Lexie was diagnosed at a young age. She is on a Low Residue Diet from the Vet, and I add Pancreas powder to her food. I put tepid warm water on her food w/ a teaspoon of the Pancreas powder and let it soak for forty minutes.
Just to let you know there will be flair ups from time to time. I always notice that it happens in the Spring and the Fall.
You are doing the right thing! Watch the Fat and the Protein level.

Dodie:
My 3 year old GSD Molly was diagnosed with EPI in December. I was feeding her Solid Gold Wolfking but recent switched her to a low fat Innova Food. I use 1 and 1/4 quarter tsp of viokase powder soaked in her food.
Dawn:
Interesting that you say that your dog usually has a flare up in Spring and Fall as Molly is having one right now. She went quickly from 60 lbs to 54 lbs and is back to feeling like a skeleton. I usually feed her 2x per day but have added a small meal in the middle of the day. I was leaving the food soak in viokase for 20 minutes but will try leaving it soak longer as the food is running thru her again. Her energy level in training is going down again so I can really tell she is not getting the nutrients she needs. How long does you dogs flare ups usually last?

many shephards, particulary working lines, but not exclusively, especially Eastern European lines, don't get along with grains or corn at all. try either Dick vanPattens Nature's Recipe, Venison and Potatoe, or Duck and Sweet Potatoe, or Eukanuba Wild Recipe Venison and Potatoe, and some raw meat. it never ceases to amaze at exactly how little most vets understand about digestive problems. Give it a try.

Reno Fan,
I would say 3 or 4 days. When this happens I take her in to the Vet to get a look see to see what is going on. I feed 2x a day also. Lexie is 11 years old, so... I must be doing something right!
