Been a while since I have posted on here, but i need a little advice on a pup. Pup is male and 10 weeks old, I am keeping him and he looks healthy as a horse. It started about 3 days ago, he would start playing and then let out a yelp as if he is in pain, took Rambo to the vet tonight and he checked him out and couldn't find anything wrong with him, heart is good, testicles have dropped, everything looked good, we wormed him again tonight and he got his second set of shots. It is the weirdest thing he just lets out a yelp even if he is just laying down. Has anybody else had this happen to them? Pinched nerve? Gas? any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

If its not a loose tooth, I feel that x-rays should be taken. See if you can pinpoint the body position he is in when he yelps. I know its worriesome as I have an 11 week old who likes to eat rocks and sticks right now.

blueshep,
It could be anything from an injury to a splinter, internal, external.
Just try to keep watch and see if you can figure it out, examine the pup with your hands looking for anything that might be causing this, from his nose to the tip of his tail and all his toes. Apply gentle pressure to soft spots, check his ears, look in his mouth.
It could even be something pulling at his fur somewhere.
If your vet didn't see anything its up to you.
Maybe a bur or a pulled toe nail, he could be passing something he ate.
Hope its nothing.

spunky was doing that at some point, i think maybe just over a year back. i had her to the vet too and mentioned it at her annual exam. the vet found nothing. she did this off and on for a few weeks and then it just stopped. i never did find out what it was.

blueshep, I am in agreement with elkoor, if this continues xrays may be needed just to check for a foreign body. Yes it could be gas. Is your pup still eating and drinking? Here comes the big question still pooing :) ? You can put the stool in water and see if there is alot of grass, sand or ? in it. I hope this helps. Do you have pictures of your pup?

I went over the pup with a fine tooth comb last night and can't find anything. He eats good, drinks water and does his business just fine, if this continues today I'll call for x-rays. Thanks for your posts.

i have a friend , that just had this problem with her 10 week old male pup/
they could not find nothing wrong either.
they did all the test , xrays etc...
they put him on some drugs to bring down any swelling.
and it has worked.
this pup was not as active and he normallly would be . and he was limping.
all the test look normal.
i dont know what to tell you.
i wonder can they get pano this young?
thats the only thing that makes sence.
good luck

Dave,
Maybe do a set of xrays AND a blood test........check if anything is elevated.

My pup had Pano at 10 weeks and he was pretty lame from it. Took the 2nd set of x-rays and my dogs regular Dr. to see it.
He was on Tramydol and Rimadyl for a little bit. It lasted a little while but was gone as suddenly as it came.
Good luck.
