My personal experience with feeding raw meat to my dog goes like this ....
When I got my long-haired chihuahua from a rescue facility, he seemed healthy, but was over weight. I fed him the highest quality dog food that I could afford and he slowly began to lose weight. However, the corners of his eyes would crust up with yucky residue. No problem, I thought, as I had seen that in many dogs. I did have to physically remove it from his eyes fairly regularly though. Ick!
Then there was the terrific snoring! I couldn't believe this little dog actually sounded like a huge person snoring in the middle of the night. It woke me up way too often. Then there was the gagging that happened periodically (which is supposed to be common in chihuahuas - or, is it due to something else that is not necessarity genetic????).
Well ... I was less than happy with the dog food. Not only was it expensive, but it smelled bad and the poop smelled bad, too. And there was a lot of poop, as well. Then there was the cranky attitude (very chihuahua you might say). So... I put on my thinking cap and considered that since I ate 85% raw/living foods, healed myself of serious illness due to diet and lifestyle changes and now felt better at near 60 than I did in my 20s, I thought ... "why not feed little poochy a raw food diet?"
The good news: The little guy has been on the raw meat diet (in addition to little high-quality kibble and a little bit of raw garlic and greens) for about 3 months now and guess what? All that yucky crusty stuff that collected at the corners of his eyes is gone! The snoring is not only near zero now, it is much quieter and runs for a shorter period of time. The gagging has greatly decreased. The poop is far less and smells better. And the attitude has become so much sweeter. I feed the poochy raw chicken legs/thighs and cut it up into small chunks before serving. I give him the raw chicken thigh bone later on. So far, I have a much healthier and happier poochy on the raw diet ... just like me ! I'm happier and healthier than I ever have been in my whole life. 85% raw/living foods .... its a lifestyle that's easier than you think and still lets me enjoy the occasional cake, pie, sweets, and more junky stuff.
I am interested in hearing what others may have experienced in feeding their pets a raw meat diet. Thanks!

I agree that it is much better. But for some it is time consuming and buying a good dog food that is based on natural meats, not byproducts is good if you cant do raw.
The cheaper dog foods are rediculous. When the main ingredient is corn, ya got to wonder. When is the last time you saw a wolf grazing in a corn field on a cob?

My dogs eat both raw and a higher end kibble(acana). Dry food in the morning and raw at night. Sometimes vice versa. No corn products in their food. However, if I throw a corn cob in the trash, it is the one thing that my one guy will do all he can to get it out of there. He also tries to get the husks. Not sure what that's all about. If there's meat in the trash, he'll just sit next to the can and hope that I read his mind and give it to him. I don't.
