Hi to all regarding the totw: Which formula works best for puppies? Arent' you a little weery of the high protein? Although I understand that they are telling us that they assimilate the no grain foods differently? What about pano?

Taste of the wild has high protein? The Salmon only has I think 24 or 25 percent? It's the bison with over 30%

The only time I've had pano was many years ago when I was feeding high protein to puppies. When I switched to lower percentages I never had the issue again. I feed raw now and have never had the problem. Whether there was a correlation with pano and high protein is anyone's guess. I just know that the problem never surfaced again when I switched to lower protein.

I think it has more to do with calcium /phosphorus. I fed canidae ALS, 24% protein, had 2 pups with pano so bad for a month they didn't want to stand up. Switched to raw, went away within a week, never came back. I've weaned 2 litters onto the pacific stream formula. I feed raw now so no one gets kibble unless their future owners tell me they want them on dog food, otherwise, they're on raw when the leave me.

Yes, TOTW fish formula has 25% protein, bison/venison has 32%. This is opposed to Evo, Orijen, and other grain frees that have protein in the low 40s.

If you are concerned about grain free for puppies, you could always look into Wellness large breed puppy or WolfCub.

I used to feed Natural Balance, now I feed TOTW Pacific blend. I have put my 2 new pups on it and they are thriving on it. My older dogs have adjusted well to it too.
