I need to find a male working line (preferably red sable or dark sable) for my best friend who's not computer savvy. He doesn't have a lot to spend (I will privately explain if need be--greedy ex-wife and big alimony), but he's got a great loving home and is a fanatic about his dogs. He just lost his Great Pyrenees (who he was constantly grooming) to cancer and he's fallen for my Zidane son but wants a less drivey version of him (my Zidane son has extreme ball drive and is constantly active and focused, he loves to be worked and worked and worked....and he doesn't sleep often and he's 5). My friend had a GSD when he was younger and worshiped the dog. My friend has done SAR before with some kind of a hound (sorry, I only like GSDs so I don't know what kind of hound). He's looking for a male, working lines, over 1 year old (to retirement age...age is wide open), decent to high drive, not a kennel dog who's never seen people and is 2-3 years old and irreparably damaged and a spook bag, a nose for SAR or low level (like backyard to local club level would work) Sch candidate. I know there are a lot of foreclosure situations and lots of homeless GSDs right now so I'm looking to find a dog who NEEDS a home a good home with my best friend. Must be a fun dog as I will be teaching him what I know :). He has a fully fenced farm and there are horses and a cow or two there who are in separate fenced sections, but my dogs jump fences with ease so I would say it's not a good home for a dog with heavy livestock aggression. No chickens or cats or anything small to be seen as prey. If anyone has or knows where I ight have some luck at finding a dog like this, please let me know. It's my best guy friend and he was already depressed about a nasty divorce and only seeing his kids on the weekends due to their school district (kids are 16 and 18 so no small children around) and then with his Great Pyrenees died, that just fueled his depression, but he's always willing to come out and play with my Zidane son (for hours) and told me to try to find him a reasonably priced dog looking for a home. I'm looking for a dog to help get my buddy back out of the house again...he's normally extremely outdoorsy, so he'd need a dog who likes to hike, plkay fetch, and just be a good companion. He has a doggie door and all so the dog would be able to be inside or outside at his own preference.  Maybe you know someone who kept a pup back and he didn't turn out to be what they wanted, know of a homeless or soon to be homeless dog, or a dog that's pretty cheap but somewhere between pet and club level. Any and all suggestion welcome....just giving this a shot. Oh yeah, he's probably going to neuter the dog he gets so a co-ownership wouldn't work.
Thanks guys,
Nichole

You should message Krazy Bout K9s, she has plenty of GSDs who need homes!

Mark in Pittsburgh produces very nice working line dogs.   He has a litter on the ground now ready to go to their new homes.  Very fair price $700 plus crate and shipping the total is $1000.  Can't beat that.  All puppies have high drive to work.  Pups have Ziadane in their lines.  I believe he is the grandfather of the pups.

KCzaja,
I messaged her...waiting to hear back.  WIsh me luck  :)
RDH,
Scott (my friend) only wants a dog who's one or older, no major puppy drama, just finishing up the puppy stage.  Thanks for the thought though.
mobjack,
Kai looks interesting but the ad is from 01/09 so I don't know if he is still available...I'll check but he may have too many issues for Scott...sounds like he might have some livestock aggression so I'd have to be sure.
Thanks all and keep the suggestions coming please,
Nichole
