Thogshoe- I'm sorry you got that kind of message from one of the more ignorant members here on the database.  I guess all of us can't have the perfect dogs.  If you would have asked more money you would have been scrutinized for that, too.  Try to ignore those that go out of their way to be hateful- not everyone here is like that.

beetree,
i am not getting into a pissing contest with you or anyone else. take it for what it is.

i just thought people like that and i guess you too (judging by your comments) would have some common decency and integrity and honor about themselves.

i dont do politics. never have and never will. especially just to say that my GSD can fetch a stick, track something, and bite. i dont need anyone to tell me if they can do that. i know they can and if i need someone to tell me that they can then i  dont need to have them in the first place.

and before i get bashed for all of this.....there is a place and time for titles and i admire those who have the connections to get it done and i admire the GSD's that go through all that. they are top notched GSD's. But lets say i bought one of your pups and my brother bought one of your pups (from the same litter), he had his titled and i did not have mine titled. now, you tell me,   Is one of your pups that you just sold a piece of crap because it is not titled? if so, then you just said you sell crap pups. Now, if you say i am a piece of crap for not getting the pup you sold me titled, then you are saying that you will sell a pup to any piece of crap that walks up to you with the right amount of money.

You see my friend, thats one hell of a dilemma, is it not?

Alot of people here on this forum..... are good people, ...try to weed through the ignorance.

thogshoe:

I'm not a breeder, "just" a lover of a GSD whose job is to be a family pet. He's fantastic at it, and his claim to fame is Grand Master of the Couch. So you see, I think  your pup is just grand, with or without titles. But, if you've been reading this board, the professional breeders have their criteria, and Titles are important to measure their success or failures. And actually, I think there is this problem with animosity against folk breeding without titles because the economics of it all are screwed up. WL, dog sport breeder/handlers only sell to WL homes, and they think pet owners only deserve the cast-offs. No wonder the pet crowd is willing to pay more for a pup, even without titles.

"dog sport breeder/handlers only sell to WL homes, and they think pet owners only deserve the cast-offs."

I have to disagree with you in a big way there, beetree. If I have two puppies, one with very high drive and one who is more mellow, and two buyers, one an experienced working home and one a family with kids who are new to the GSD and just want a pet- how exactly WOULD you expect a breeder to place such pups? Just because a dog has a more suitable personality for a pet home does not make the puppy a "cast off"! It has nothing do with a breeder thinking a pet home deserves less, and EVERYTHING to do with a breeder placing a puppy in a home the PUPPY deserves! What would a pet buyer want with a drivey sport prospect puppy anyway?! Would it be responsible for a breeder to sell a puppy better suited to be a working dog into a pet home?

My animosity toward people who breed dogs NO title at all is they are breeding a working breed with no clue whatsoever as to whether or not the dog can work. Please note I did not say schutzhund, I do believe there are many many ways to prove a good dog, btw, but since I don't do herding/sar/psa/etc. my breed test of choice in my own dogs is schutzhund.

What is this about anyway? Some BYB ad?
