Surely there is a comparison sheet somewhere that shows this.

Here is one site I found via Google search. I'm sure there is a more official one, I just don't have time to search atm.

Thanks Mindhunt: That is a very good explanation..I had read it not here, but someplace else, when we had a pedigree discussion last year on here...but her site is good copy and saved.... hard to remember all the german meaning on hips and what they all mean..

I HAVE SEEN MANY DOGS BRED ON HERE WITH THE WORD hd: DYSPLASTIC and bred and in pedigrees....??
I wondered the same thing...I ask about this last year and got the same answer.... A6 means same as A stamp in Germany well why the 6 why not A1 or a2 .
Sure is a long way to 6....from number 1..????

a very well-known dog is a6, i own a granddaughter of this dog and wanted more info as i planned breedings. i contacted his breeder (also very well known) to find out the original rating. it was explained that the a stamp was done in italy. she told me the italian rating, and said that when ownership of the dog came back to germany, a6 is what the SV used even though the dog was re-xrayed/re-evaluated in germany as a1.
the point is, the a stamp was given in another country, and a6 is how the SV reflects this on their documents. this differentiates a german evaluation from another governing body's evaluation.
