I've heard rumors of people giving humna vitamins as suppliments to their dogs - such as vitamin E to improve coat. Does anyone regularly suppliment their dogs? If so, what for and in what dose?
Thanks,

I've heard people giving fish oil pills (human grade), palmetto (this was for an older male, I took him off once I got him), and vit. c pills.
I've never supplemented. I feel if you have a balanced diet, you shouldn't have to give supplements.
and as for pet-tabs (doggy vitamins), I recently read a report sent to me by a friend that they contain extremely high doses of lead per pill.

To all of our dogs we give Nupro www.nuprosupplements.com or a combination of 500mg Ester-c, 1000mg of fish oil and 400IU vitamin E along with a well balanced diet. We also feed partially raw to all of our dogs starting as puppies at 4 weeks old. The above dosages are full a full grown GSD not a puppy. Puppies are started on Nupro at 3 weeks when they start to eat solid food.
The Nupro Silver is awesome for older arthritic pets, not necessarily just dogs. I have seen first hand remarkable improvement in older animals.
