hi ppl,
how much excercise is necessary for a gsd, starting 2 months of age, to get him/her strong & well built(total conformation)?

The best excersise is swimming, it is easy on the joints for a developing pup. Stay away from alot of jumping and climbing.
Take care,
Melanie

Age appropriate exercise is the best.... for a very young pup such as 2 months, chewing on a big marrow bone is a ton of exercise and no stress on any joints. But they are working their jaws and shoulders and all parts. Certainly chasing toys and people until he tires (which is probably for most pups less than 3mins) is lots of fun.... I do restrained recalls with my pups ... really tires them and they learn that coming to me is the best thing.....swimming is great for any age group, just watch a young dog will tire easily. I wouldn't do any hard exercise until the growth plates are closed which is around 14 months for large breed pups... but it's always best to check via xray....
I guess the best advice is be sensible.....
