I have 2 dogs that are biting at there skin and I have not seen one flea on them. What can cause a dog to bite at them selves. They do not have dry skin either. Any ideas or suggestions on what to do? Both dogs are from completly different lines. I do use frontline on them.

What are you feeding your dogs?  have you noticed any abundance of hair loss - did you change their food in the last month or two?  more info, please

Also weed allergy can cause it, ear and face rubbing, biting all over with no fleas.I think it is a kind of hives Use a kid antihistmine and treat hot spots I just use calmine lotion and I would stop shots as I believe they cause gsd to get allergies JMO

had the same problem with my dogs, and vet thought allergies. than this year my daughter and i had alot of bites on us after being next to the dogs, and  vet suggested it might be mites. i did a bunch of research online and concluded it could be sarcoptic mange. spunky was so bad she had chewed bare patches on her flanks, and kept picking at a sore on her leg. after 5 treatments of lime sulfur-dip, whatever it was, was all was fixed. lime dip is an anti-microbial and anti-parasitic solution. it is very very very stinky but it did help alot.

Well both dogs are feed Royal Canine dog food for at least 2 years now. Both are given fresh eggs every couple of days, have for over a year. I thought it might be misq bites or nit bites. There are no sores, no hair loss, no hot spots nothing. I try to only bath them every couple of months, so they will not have dry skin.

How about mites?  Think they are called skivvy? not sure of that - but might need to go to a vet for a check....if nothing has changed in diet or environment..
