Woke up yesterday to Ozeta creeping (!!!) out of her crate with her right front foot about 5 times normal sized! GROSSLY swollen up to just past her ankle and a temp to 104.5. Rushed to vet, X-rayed just in case; nothing there. Finally found a small abraded spot/possible puncture just under her dewclaw. Big guns abx and steroid shots i.v, then repeated epsom salt soaks throughout the day yesterday (took off work so I could treat her). Good news this morning; swelling down by about half, temp back to normal. Apparently just got into a horrid bacteria while swimming/playing in the creek (?) or who knows what? At least it looks like she's on the mend now. Her foot was so huge yesterday it was shocking. My heart was in my throat.

Possible spider bite depending on your area would indicate probable species.

We do have Brown Recluse in our area, and actually had one bite my little Malti-poo several years ago on his hip. At that time the bite was very characteristic red-ringed and went necrotic in just a few hours. Won't say that isn't possible, but it doesn't really look like it. If I start seeing some tissue death it will come up on the suspect list but so far, other than just some redness around/under her dewclaw, nothing looks like that, at least not yet.
