my 2 1/2 year old spayed female gets this high pitched bark when ever someone comes over. she is not mean at all just yeps and gets all excited an jumps up and down. some times she tries to snip though never hurts anyones. why does she do this??

Dogs have different barks like people have different pitched voices. I had a male with a high-pitched bark - when he was excited - and a deeper bark when he was in protection mode. His sire had a similar bark. Runs in the familiy (?)

High pitch is usually prey, lower is defense.
