I have an 11 month old female that tore some cartilage in her knee about 3 months ago. She has had 1 surgery to remove the cartilage that was floating around in her knee. She was on Adiquin injection, sanova G and rejuvenate, the thing is she still has a pop in her knee when you palpate it and her leg gets stiff if she lays on it to long, she can use the leg and the swelling is gone, her muscle tone is back so all that is good.
I had my Vet look into the stem cell thing but that only last about 4-5 years, worst case is to take the leg so she is not in pain anymore and I don't want to do that.
She is only 11 months old and has a long life ahead of her but I don't want her in pain or on pain meds for the rest of her life. It is breaking my heart to see her in pain, and I don't know what else to do for her. She is not "Oh my got my leg hurts, it is more like man this is uncomfortable" You can see it in her eyes. Any suggestion would be great.
Thank you for your time,
Robin

First off see another vet.
Never take one opinion on something like this.
Beyond that, I dunno.
Depends on how much pain she's in.

The Vet is my boss so I trust him with everything, I helped durning the surgery so I seen what was pulled out. I just need to know what would help to rebuild her cartilage, We have all kinds of stuff to rebuild fuild in the knee but not just cartilage and that is what I need.

What was removed will not grow back ever.
That much I know.
Also I know you must keep things moving, careful therapy.
If the pain is severe then think of the dog.
Minor pain can be worked through and in time gotten used to.
A three legged dog can do just fine if thats the end result.
You trust your Vet, what was his recommendation?

the pain is minor she gets along great she plays, runs but has the pop and it stiffens up when she lays around. He said put her back on the Adiquin injections, but I was just asking it there was something else out there that might help, like a shark cartilage or some other kind of remedy. As far as the cartilage that was removed, she was not even useing the leg and the knee was swollen twice the size as the other knee. That has all gone away no swelling, muscle tone is back and she is using the leg just a little off step.

I would continue therapy, water treadmill, as with humans after surgery time only tells on the amount of being uncomfortable. I believe in Adequan and also get an orthoped bed for her too.
I hope this helps.
Always,
Cee

The adequin is a good product but you have to give it time to work how did you start the treatments 2 shots a week for 4 weeks then 1 a month for a year or so?.

I will put her back on the Adequin then, we did 2 shots for 3 weeks and then didn't do any more, started her on other things. but thanks for all the comments and I will get her shots started back up and keep doing them. with alittle bit of pain meds for the stiffness.
Thank you all again

Again,
What did this Vet recommend?
I'm curious.
