Krazy Bout K9s

by Krazy Bout K9s on 30 July 2009 - 16:07

This female, Kera,  is up for adoption. She came from Valiandale Kennels...6 yrs old will be fixed. Owner didn't want anymore. Had one litter unregistered cause they got a male from same kennel and wanted to have pups...This breeders, is what I am dealing with every day...you sell the dogs with limited registration, or spay/neuter requirements, People don't care, they breed anyhow and sell the pups for $500-$800 purebred but not registered...You now have unregistered competition...from your own dogs, not titled, obedience trained, socialized or fixed...and then they get dumped when they are no longer useful...

the breeder wouldn't take her back?

The breeder will, but expects the owner to pay shipping, as this dog is a loooong way from her kennel.

Steph doesn't have a pedigree on this dog yet, but the kennel owner does do schutzhund with her dogs. I think there may be DDR lines in this dog, from the look of it. Most of her dogs trace back to well known kennels of the 60's: Cosalta, Long Worth, Busecker Schloss and Lierberg. There are American lines in these dogs (Yoncalla's Mike, for instance), but she carefully avoided breeding to Lance and his progeny. More recently, she's bred to various working line imports. Pedigrees are viewable on her site.

It's interesting to look at her previous dogs, and see what an American bred dog could look like without the Lance influence!

I didn't see any Schutzhund, only obedience titles on her dogs...she said she would take it back but won't pay the shipping to get it back...so I have it....read the original post too...this dog was from a breeder, never got registered and had a litter of PUREBRED BUT UNREGISTERED PUPPIES... I get this all the time...
And I get in alot of working dog types in too...that would have gotten PTS if they stayed in the shelter....

The point here is another dog from a "responsible breeder" that didn't follow through on her dogs...and she is having ( two)2 more litters in AUGUST!!!!!

GO FIGURE!!!!

Steph, I know of someone on the database who trains at the same schutzhund club as the owner of this kennel. Maybe none of her current dogs have titles, but she is involved in the sport, and has titled dogs in the past.

And two more upcoming litters? That doesn't exactly scream "RESPONSIBLE BREEDER'!

Both litters in the same month no less...

And I wouldn't trust this dog with a ten foot pole...I hope she finds someone to adopt her...what a waste of a dog...

Why don't you trust the dog even with a ten foot pole ?  Is she nippy  ? I had one here a few weeks ago I did not trust .It scared me half to death always growling at me . I could not have been happier to find  him a home and off he went .It is doing good with the new owner . It just plain ole did not like me . I couldn't even take a look at it to see what color it was or it would growl at me . So be it .I say it was cream and black . I have no idea who's it was just that it came here for a week or so . I was thinking He would have to be PTS. I have an open order for him to be brought back if he don't work out but darn he hates me . I hope I never see him again.

No she is not nippy at all, I have only had her a few days and keeping her out in the kennel. She doesn't trust anyone, I am going to have to teach her to trust me...

She just backs up and watches, one of those you need to always keep in your eyesight...no quick movements with her...I don't know if she would attack or not...I am just careful when I go in to feed her. Talk to her calmly and just set in front of her for abit, she won't come near her food dish until I leave. I haven't taken her outside the kennel yet...thought I would give her a few more days, I have found that, sometimes solitary confinment with these tough dogs, does wonders for them, then they start to look for human companionship. She is in with WolfGang the other black male on another post...He likes everyone so all is well there...
Off to pick up yet another rescue dog!!!!
2 more coming in this weekend and hopefully 2 or 3 going out!!!!!
Later, Steph

Kera is a very nice looking female. I hope you can find her a good home.
this is a link to Valiantdale Kennels parade of titled dogs.

  http://www.valiantdale.com/parade_of_title_holders.aspx

She does show and work her dogs in schutzhund and AKC obedience.
It is a sad deal with Kera needing to be placed, and especially if she is shy natured, but honestly, is that all the Breeders
fault? Kera is 6 years old? I would say some blame belongs to the one getting rid of her.  I would also put the blame on the one getting rid of her for breeding her without her papers & health evaluation and doing what was necessary as she most likely agreed to with the Breeder.

I see alot of posts on here about not spaying/neutering before 18 months. That can be a good thing for the individual dogs for sure, expecially their attitude change after 1st or 2nd heat cycle, but it is because of those irresponsible ones like Kera's x-owner that gets alot of younger dogs spayed/neutered.
It sounds like the Breeder is being responsible in taking the dog back, why should the Breeder be expected to pay the shipping back to her place? And what happen to the male pup this person bought? is it also in rescue or been given away? due to ?  Why did they wait until she was 6 years old?

True, temperment is a genetically inherited trait that is influenced by environment, didn't they figure this out a few years ago? before they let the "NOT SUPPOSE TO BE BRED DOG", Breed? I was always told that it is 50% heredity and 50% environment that produces the end result...
Krazy bout k9's,It looks like you have your work cut out for you to rehabilitate her. Good luck.
By the way, Everyone stop breeding for 1 year to see how things go, sounds like a good Idea. How many do you think will do it? What do you think the outcome would be?

Krazy Bout K9s

K9Cadet.
It is not totally the breeders fault, but I have heard that the kennel has produced some very aggressive dogs. The dog was not socialized. They kept the male who supposedly is more aggressive than the female. Not towards her owners and kids, but strangers and the kids' friends that come over to play.
SHE IS NOT SHY IN THE LEAST, SHE DOESN'T PIN HER EARS BACK, and growl, SHE JUST BACKS UP TO SAY I DON'T TRUST YOU, BACK OFF.

If I was the breeder I would be finding someone to help transport the dog to me, or get the word out that the dog needs a home. YET SHE HAS DONE NOTHING, EXPECTING ME TO FIND A HOME FOR THE DOG.

I contacted the breeder a week before I ever received the dog and told her about it...she said to tell the guy to ship the dog to her. I told him and he said he didnt' have $600 to ship the dog back. The breeder has had 3 weeks to find a home or get the dog from me...What am I supposed to do. The guy will dump the dog, so I get it through the shelter or from him??? No matter what the breeder doesn't get the dog back...
RESCUE GETS YET ANOTHER BREEDERS PROBLEM...SO WHO'S FAULT IS IT REALLY???
IT STILL FALLS UPON THE RESCUE GROUP OR THE SHELTERS TO PLACE ALL THESE BLASTED DOGS THAT PEOPLE KEEP BREEDING IN THESE TERRIBLE ECONOMIC TIMES...HOPING TO MAKE SOME MONEY TO PAY THEIR BILLS AT THE EXPENSE OF THE DOGS...NOT FAIR TO THE DOGS OR RESCUE GROUPS...

I just got in another 1 1/2 yr old female from the state of Washington today. AKC registered but I don't recognize any of the names. I am her 3rd home in those 1 1/2 yrs...hopefully the 4th will be her final home.....IS THAT FAIR TO THE DOG???

Tomorrow I get in another long haired not fixed 1 yr old female that has been through 4 homes in one year, I will be her 5th home and hopefully her 6th home will be her last...IS THAT FAIR TO THE DOG????

THEN THE BREEDER IS HAVING 2 MORE LITTERS IN AUGUST...THE PEOPLE PAID $1500 FOR THIS FEMALE.
TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE??? NOT TAKEN THE DOG??? OKAY, THEN SHE WOULD GO TO THE SHELTER AND GET PTS. BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT TAKE THE TIME TO WORK WITH HER...I AM DOING THE BREEDERS JOB...
STEPH
