Not everyone who uses aliases here is doing it for nefarious reasons. Some people do use them to commit fraud or pretend to be "bigger and better" than they really are.

However, you only need to check the message board and some ads to know that there are a number of pretty whacked-out people who post here. If they get your real identity and learn more about your life and livlihood, they can - and do - they spread very damaging lies and wild stories about people that not only are embarrassing but can create a lot of real trouble in their lives. I have heard of a few situations where people took their craziness into the real world and even made credible threats of violence. (Now THAT'S SICK!)

And women might need to be concerned about harrassment and internet stalking (and men, too.)

I also notice that a lot of the guys like to take pot shots at women and use common biased beliefs in order to discredit what they are saying or doing with their dogs or their professional expertise "just because" they are women. Men who do that are not only NOT gentleman, the are UNPROFESSIONAL.

Most people here are very open about who they are, though not necessarily on the board itself.  I use a username that incorporates part of my real name, but I have no personal information listed, and I never post using my full name, because of the freaks (trolls) that post here from time to time.

That said, there are a number of people, and they know who they are, who attack people here, then come back with a different user name months later and start again.  You can usually recognize them by their writing style, spelling (or lack thereof) and their grammar (again, or lack thereof).

Some, like Bob McKown, Louise Penery, and a few others, actually (I'm pretty sure, anyway) use their real names, as they are here for professional reasons, and know that no idiot is likely to try and pull off a real life assault on them...Not that I'm worried that much, but I'd rather not have to hurt someone who's foolish...I don't want to set a bad example for my GSD or my kids.

And since I have no idea who might actually be reading this board, I have to keep that in mind as well.  Using a username is a way to protect yourself.

I THOUGHT USING AN ALIAS AND TRYING TO KEEP ONES IDENTITY PRIVATE IS INTERNET SAFETY LESSON #1 . ARE WE NOT TEACHING OUR KIDS TO NOT REVEAL WHO AND WHERE THEY ARE WHILE ON THE INTERNET ? WHO WANTS SOME FREAK RUNNING OFF WITH YOUR KIDS ? OR WORSE ? I  HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE ADS ON THE SCREEN MYSELF AND NOTICE SOMETHING STRANGE GOING ON  . I KEEP GETTING A WEB VIRUS AD FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS . THIS CONCERNS ME .

I,m not here for any professional reasons I just don,t have a problem saying what I think. (not that i,m poking at anyone) and i,m sure all the cool names are taken thats why i don,t have a avatar I have no idea what to use. That sounds like a new thread coose a avater for Bob Mckown what do you think?.

I to get caught up with the weirdos just earlier this month palerider was going to come and visit me at my house I gave him my address but he never showed(suprise suprise) just a jerk with a key board. shortly after his vailed attempt to put fear in my life my pedigrees and photos on them were tampered with... there is  a adult for you. I,d still love to know his real name and walk up to him at a trial and introduce my self. oh well,

She's doing awesome, Bob.  She's about 35 pound now, still a bit lean, but that's good.  She's strong, healthy, and really willing to go just about anywhere...She's cautious enough not to plow off edges, but once she figures out a new area, she's confident as can be.  Just a real outgoing little girl, and sweet as can be.

Here's a recent pic...

She's really something!

As far as palerider...I doubt you'd find him at a trial...He'd first have to have a dog, and know what to do with it, before you'd ever see him at a trial of anything, beside perhaps a criminal trial.  What a loser.  Wonder how long he'll be gone...Maybe forever.

I'll try and get some new photos up on my thread of Oakley...Haven't used the camera much lately, and when I do, it's been outside.  My batteries are getting really bad, won't hold a charge for long, so I'm going to have to break down and get a couple of new ones.

Thanks for asking about her:-)

Bob,,I think you need a avatar,,sounds like a good thread....

I beleave that "Aliases' are needed for some,,,I'm not a 300 pounds, six foot 3 guy & I dont want or need the jerks comming after me...But if you look at peoples post you can almost find all the info out about them...I had some really nasty pm's in the last few months,,,normally they aren't like that,,but there is someone here who doesnt like me very much..;(   .   they also sent me some really "nice" emails.....
But there are some really great people on here ......

Size has nothing to do with presence, but I understand. I,m sorry to hear about the stupidity some show here but it is like any other chat site there are the few dregs but as the old saying goes "that which does not kill us makes us stronger".
If you come up with a avatar of intrest let me know.

My first name is Steve, and that is the name i use i put on the 1 behind it because Steve is a common name and so not to be confused with another Steve,
i do not care who knows who i am or where i come from, which is Belgium. Makes no difference to me at all nothing to hide and if anyone does not like what i say and come's looking then fair enough that too is okay with me
