I want to get peoples thoughts on this. My dog LOVES the table, but was put on it by someone that knows how to use it.

The table is a very good tool, used properly. Unfortunately, there are many using it, who do not understand how to use it. It is not for every dog. The best is Gene England. Many of the same behaviors used on the table, can be duplicated on a place board, or just in the field, if the helper knows what he is doing.
The place boards can be used in many more ways. Making a clear boundry for the hold and bark, to keep the dog clean, send out, speeding up retrieves and recalls, etc.
There really are no bad training methods, as long as they are humane and used properly on the appropriate dog.

In the hands of a truly knowledgeable trainer the table can be a great tool.In the hand of a "less than great trainer" it can really scew up your dog
