Please help! THIS HAPPENED IN OREGON...think the dog was a GSD or GSD cross...
My dog was brutally murdered in a quarter of a mile from the parking lot of the Upper McDowell Creek Falls at 10 AM on Saturday July 18.
I was waking with my 2 dogs that morning. Sophie (the dog which was killed) was ahead, checking bushes from both side of the road; Panka (my other dog) right behind Sophie, but staying on the road and me following them within 100 yards. Both dogs disappeared from my view for a less than a minute because of the sharp curve of the road. Suddenly I heard a single shot which was very close to me. I started to call the name of my dogs and after a few-seconds pause a man’s voice asked me if a white fuzzy dog is my and I answered that yes. It was the description of Panka. He said that he shot in the air because my dog sniffed his dog. In less than 2 minutes I saw Panka in the middle of the road. She was unharmed and calm. The guy who was talking to me escorted his dog away from the road toward his vehicle. Another guy stayed with his back to me trying to what I thought at that time to fold a big sleeping bag or blanked in front of their SUV. Now I understand that he was hiding the license plate and their SUV from my look. They did not mention another dog and I though that Sophie had run away scarred by the close shot.
Panka and I continued our regular walk calling for Sophie, but she did not show up. I also did not find her next to my vehicle when I came back to the parking lot 30-40 min later. There were no signs of these guys as well. I called my husband and we started the search for Sophie. Very soon he found Sophie shot in her neck and hidden 20 feet deep in the bushes on these guys’ parking spot. Later, deputy sheriff found the place where she was killed, right on the middle of the road.
They shot her from a close distance. She possible thought that they wanted to pet her. Her tail was still in upright position as if she was wagging her tail and she had a smile on her face.
She was a wonderful loving trusting friendly dog; she did not deserve this senseless murder.
Please, help us to find these murderers.
We need only information. We promise full confidentiality. We put a substantial reward for the information which will lead to arrest and conviction of these “people.” It will be given to the first person or divided among a few first people with the correct information.
The first guy is around 40ty; heavy set, very short light hair with possible bald on the top of his head. Light blue or gray eyes. Big mouth with full lips. Close to 6 feet; weight 200-250; overweight but muscular. Clean good clothe. Looks like he has a military background. He had a white middle size dog, 15-25 lbs; possible young or even a puppy; short haired, white. Possible bullterrier, pitbull or something else.
Another guy: slim, around 6 feet, 160 -180lbs, with dark, possible thick hair, regular haircut, clean good clothes.
They had “military type SUV” brownish-green, of one of the colors which used in camouflage. Flat color. Possible canvas, retractable top. Vehicle looks very good, maybe not new but not old. I have not seen too many of them around.

I hope they die screaming, in the dark, alone and slow.
My thought is the dog didn't suffer as much as I hope the human does.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I do not know what is wrong with people. I think that they think that it is ok to shoot a dog as target practice! Becuase for so long no one has done anything. The same thing happened here in northern Michigan. A woman was walking in the woods with her two dogs and one ran ahead and some guy shot it saying it was harrasing his chickens. But his story did not fly with the police. He was given a jail sentence and fined, so more people need to realize you can't go around shooting peoples pets!
Again I am so sorry and I hope these men are brought to justice. There has to be far bigger consequenses for animal neglect and murder in this country!
Just my two cents..

These kind of people are everywhere. They neither understand nor care that they have no right to kill people's dogs, or damage their property. They are just idiots, but even more dangerous because they obviously shouldn't be armed, not even with a nerf ball. I wouldn't recommend that anyone go shooting my dog while I'm out for a walk with her...Can't guarantee that I wouldn't be on here asking for donations for bail!
I can feel this lady's pain. I can feel her outrage over finding her dog, and not being able to go back after the losers who shot the dog. It's an act of cowardice not to admit they shot the dog.
As for shooting a dog that was swimming with children in a creek...That person is VERY lucky they didn't hit a child. But we've had neighbors like that, people who thought they knew what was better for their neighbors than the people themselves did. When I was a child, this particular neighbor would come over onto our property line (ten acres in the country) and get our dogs to bark, then call the sheriff and complain about the noise. Or he'd lure them onto his property with food, and then call the sheriff because of dogs at large. And once he called and expressed concern that there were so many dogs around, with little children! We only had four dogs at the time, and in no way were they a threat to us. The police showed on that one, too, and the sheriff deputy that came shook his head in apology as he explained why he was there and what the neighbors had said. No tickets were issued, of course, and he didn't remove any dogs, for they were no threat to anyone. There was a purebred Collie, two puppies that were Heinz 57s, and a Siberian Husky...Not exactly your run of the mill attack dogs.
I hope they find the people who shot the dog, anyway. They should be sent to prison, for endangering others. If I were out walking, and someone's dog came at me, wagging and friendly, I'd likely pet and hold on to the dog until I knew the owners were there, and the dog wasn't on his own. The only way I would ever consider shooting a dog is if it attacked me, fully intending to harm me, my dog, or my children. That would be self defense.
What those guys did, if indeed the dog never threatened them, was just plain cruel and unacceptable, juvenile at best. There's no excuse. None.

It won't bring back the life she took.
I have had two dogs shot in 20 years, I know who shot one of them.
He's on my list.

I am really sorry for you and your dog Sophie. There are some really sick people out there. I hope you get them, I hear pigs leave no trace of human bodies
