In the next year or so, I will be looking for another female, preferably sable, german shepherd. I'm looking for a well-lined dog to start in French Ring, maybe Schutzhund. I know that I should do research, but I don't know where or how to start.
If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Haley

Probably the best place to start is talking to the club members of the SchH or ring club you hope to train with. Look at their dogs and see what you think. I will say GSDs that do well in ring seems to be a much smaller pool to draw from than Schutzhund.

xD Yes, it does seem much smaller, but I'm willing to look and to try. Thank you for the input.

I get on youtube, search and watch the dogs work. If I like something sonsistent I will try to contact the owner.. and go from there.
America is a huge country. You can have nice dogs in your club but every owner will kinda push toward the dog they like. And how do you know that what they like you will also.
You have plenty of time to find the "right dog".
Ring sport results would be also helpful to see WHO does this sport near youl. You can have a great dog you still need a club, training partner, somebody who will put on the suit. FIND THOSE PEOPLE in your area.
Good luck

Since you looking into french ring or sch, these are two different dogs, hard to find dog that will do well in both. I would contact Steve Simpkins from Haussimpkins.com his current litter has the right balance for both, I think his current breeding pair is just 100% dog, to be honest I didn't see nothing better in a long time. I own one of the females out of this litter that is over one year old now and she has clear head, lives to bite, and is just well balance dog, I went to quite few SCH clubs recently and I didn't see nothing that would impress me as much as his dogs. But that could be my prefrence so as always do your own homework. But I stend 100% behind his dogs, the new combination just proves to work.

BTW last breeding was very uniform negligible variation, which is even more impressive if you ask me.
