Really I do not spoil my dogs. I do keep them healthy, fit and happy. They are worked everyday doing something, so Sabin earned his root canal and his gold/titanium cap. Now he has a blingbling to show off to all the pretty girls.

Everyone have a great day.

The cap is used so the root canal would not fail later down the road. The roots to canine tooth are so long, if you tried to pull the tooth, you might break the jaw. The specialist asked if he wanted a diamond on it too. He was just kidding.

Good for you...and him!
Is he smiling at all the ladies now?
What are the odds that when he bites...a sleeve or bone, that it'll come out? You know how hard they chomp down.
How good is it in there? Just like a human root canal w/cap?

And, what was he like after the procedure? Was he in discomfort? Not want to eat? Just like us humans?
And, if so, what did you give him to eat?

Hi Jen, the cap has little grooves on the inside after it is made, the company that is used has been really good with the molds that are taken of the tooth. This type of cap has been used also with many working K9s and hold up pretty good. The root canal itself went well, most of the work is taking the digital films to make sure you have all the pulp out. ( I think from start to finish, after going under anesth. the procedure for the root canal was two hours). The mold is taken and you wake the dog up. The only discomfort is the jaw muscles due to holding the mouth open. Sabin ate soft food for a few days, we put him on tramadol and clavamox ( the anti was because he had started abscessing). The cap came in and that went without a hitch, he was under maybe hour. After the cap was on he ate soft food for a few days, this time no pain meds. needed. After each procedure and the anesth was out of his system he was back to being Sabin.
Have a great day.
