I am sure many of us may be interested in the weekly growth rates and weights of GSD puppies for the first 8-10 weeks or so.  Do you have any data to share?

TIA

Thanks for that link MaggieMae but I have not found that chart to be be very accurate.
Does anyone really have a 4 week old puppy weighting 9 lbs? That is what the chart indicates!

I have to agree.  Our pups are 5 weeks at the moment, and we looked at that chart yesterday, and burst out laughing!

Yes, the litter was big (12 pups) and yes, the dam is raw fed, but our biggest guy (and he's a really big oaf) is around 2.7kg, where the chart says he should be 4.2kg at 1 month.

Are you saying that 9 pounds is too much or too little for 4 weeks?   My puppy is almost 5 months and he is right on target with this chart.    ???

I would think too much?  I know with my female - who grew to 67 lbs - was never really even close to that chart!  Always under.

I would say the first few months are over, then it evens out and is more accurate.

The chart lists the weights by MONTH, not weeks.  A 5, 6, 7 week old pup is not yet 2 months old, so if it reaches 9 lbs at any of those "weeks" the chart would still be correct in listing 9 lbs at one month of age.  The 2 month old weight of 19.9 lbs would cover a pup that's 8, 9, 10, 11 weeks old and most of them do reach 19.9 lbs before 12 weeks/3months old.   So, the chart is pretty accurate if you read it covering the entire MONTH listed.

My largest pup was 10 pounds at 6 wks.
I don't hold much for charts, if the pups are eating good and the food is adequate they will gain whatever nature intended.
Worming is useful but not too early.  I wait till 6 wks.
Throw the charts away and just keep a close watch on they're progress.
One size does not fit all.

I agree with two moons.  Throw the chart away. If your pups are fed correctly, getting all they need from a proper food, and of course being wormed on schedule, than why worry yourself with the chart. Everything will fall into place. They are just like humans. Everyone is different. Each pup will grow and develop at his own rate. If anything use the chart as a general guide. Trying to keep up with the chart faithfully will drive you crazy.
