here is is straight from the SV today  15 Jul 2009

Dear Ms. Garrick,

In reference to your inquiry we would like to inform you that the German Shepherd Dog with “Long stock coat with undercoat” will be integrated into breeding and conformation shows. But, before this can be done a request for the change of the German Shepherd Dog race standard has to be submitted to FCI; the target for the start of the new rules is as of 2010. We will publish further information in the SV magazine and on our homepage as soon as we will have received the approval of FCI.
We hope we have been able to help you with this information.
Best regards
A. Fath

This was mentioned that it probably would happen last winter and it was also said in a post by me a short while ago but not confirmed then as it is now but it will happen just a matter of a few more months, that long coats with an undercoat will be okay so my Goran also will be recognised

This has been a known fact since May 2008!

by SitasMom on 15 July 2009 - 23:07

what I understood from the previous posts stated that the coated dogs would be half in.........seperate regerstry, seperate competitions - everything seperate.............This post seems to state that everything will be the way it was 20 or  30 years ago, before they were kicked out.

was I reading something into the previous posts, or am I not understanding this post?

Maybe the breeders of these in Germany dont want to join the SV as they have own organisations
Altdeutschen Schäferhund
Allgemeiner Deutscher Rassehunde Verband e.V.
and their own standards.

I have just parted with my coated pup "Ultraviolett von Ryanhaus" cause I didn't want to perpetuate a known fault within the standard, so now it looks like no big deal, is that what is happening?
So does that mean they will eventually allow white GSD's back into breed programs.......?

Fianally it will happen we've been trying for that for a long time.

Well Wildmoor, that is their own decision. You  also forgot the other long coat association in Germany: www.asvd.de
Neither one is FCI recognized. The FCI only permits breed organizations from Germany which are affiliated with the VDH (Verband fuer das Deutsche Hundewesen). As you might have guessed, the SV is the largest breed organization within the VDH and holds a key position. The other thing is that you won't get any papers or registration for puppies bred by these breeders who belong to either organization, unless you try with the UKC of course. Maybe, they would register them, since they seems to take any kind of dog under their wings.

Besides, when you go through their trials, shows and breeding announcements, you will find that the majority of the adults come from SV breeders.
Out of curiosity, I would like to know if anybody ever imported a dog registered with either the ASVD or the LSVD from Germany. What happened with registration over here?
The SV will keep long stockcoats seperate. That means that they will only be bred amongst themselves and not paired up with stockcoats. The coats will have their own breed book, classes at shows and breed survey. In short, they will be called a variety and not judged against normal stockcoats. This will start next year.
Chris
P.S. Mirasmom, white shepherds are not German Shepherds! They are FCI recognized under the name of the Berger Blanc Suisse which translates into Swiss White Shepherd. Here is a link for your information: www.berger-blanc-international.com/english/index.html But as a GSD breeder, I am sure you were aware of that. As to your longcoat: Since your breeding program does not follow SV regulations, meaning that you title, show and breed survey your breeding stock, it should not matter much anyway - as long as you have AKC registration!

Long coats are not disqualified from participating in any AKC activcity (including breed shows) that is open to a stock coat GSD.

White is a disqualification.
