I have a Gappay summer weight handler vest.  Does anyone know what washing instructions are or if it is to be sent out ot be dry cleaned ?  The tag says it's 75% "Bavina" and  25% "polyamid"; and also has the following symbols on it:  a bucket (?) with water(?) &  the number "40"; a triangle with an "X" through it;  a clothes iron; a circled "P"; and what is either a washer or a dryer with an "X" through it.  I really like this vest, and I don't want to experiment!

Can't go wrong with a gentle wash in cold water and a hang dry.

Two rocks and a creek and a bar of home made lye soap.

Thanks, KC, I think that's probably my best bet.

Why so cold DR, have you found someone new?

Sue, if you still have your washing machine manual... you'll find an explanation in there for all the wee symbols.  If in doubt, I put things on the handwash cycle... if it can't go in the machine... I don't want it, so far, so good... nothing ruined.

I usually wash them in cold water and hang dry.  :)

Cool water in a regular cycle is fine. Hang to dry or toss the dryer with no heat in a pinch. Remove when done to avoid wrinkles (shake before hanging). It is best to use powered soap rather than liquid. No liquid fabric softener either. Liquid will fill the 'pours'. More water, than clothing in load helps with any odor issues…pre soak if it get really stinky (shouldn’t be an issue with a vest). This is true for any of the synthetic or ‘tech’ type fabrics that ‘wick’ or repel water.

Well yeah Steve old buddy old pal, but what the heck does a triangle with an X through and the letter  P with an X through it it mean not to do??????
