I just dont get it ...  what is the point ??  The pedigree database is very helpful to all of us ... so please ... register in a proper way ... or dont register at all.

It might be that these people don't have the paperwork they need to fill in the blanks.  It takes time and a little effort to get that done if the parents or grandparents are not already listed.  I know it seemed to take me forever to get mine in.  I've tried to get photos from the breeder and from the breeder he bought his dogs from but so far no cooperation.  I have noticed that some photos "magically" appeared after I talked to the breeder of the grandparents so even though she was rude and informed me there were no pictures going back that far, some showed up.  Not sure that the pedigree didn't look better without the pictures...I even offered to take the photos of my girl's parents and load them but my breeder can never seem to find a "good time" now that he has his money.  That's what you get when you buy from BYB...live and learn.

If your trying to add an American dog you must pay AKC for history.
People get lazy, people cant or don't wanna pay, and people are stupid.
I can track two of my dogs here all the way back to the beginning.
One I cannot because she's been too many AKC generations.
This database is very helpful if you can bridge that gap.

Amen Moons, PDB has furnished me with some great lines/photos with little to no aggravation!

It took me a lot of time and determination to get past the 3 generations listed on my dog's pedigree for the American lines. I now have it complete going back 7 generations. People on the database who knew some of the dogs were a great help, but I did lots of digging online, too to find stuff.

But it boggles my mind to see the number of people who put in their dog's name and maybe the parents, and don't enter anything else!

Sheer laziness, IMO!  If you can't be bothered entering the 3 generation pedigree that came with your registration why bother at all?

Yea, with some research I found most of the info that I needed to know for my guys too.  I'm missing some on my older female, but with a little effort, I could probably find it.

I even fixed a discrepancy in my boy's.  There was a dog a few generations back that the year of birth didn't match up at all.  Dog wouldn't have been born or something.  Turns out there were two dogs with the same name, and just the wrong one was entered originally.

I wonder more, why people register the same dog 2 or 3 times.... Seen it a lot lately....

Schaeferhund, it's usually because there is a sight spelling disrepancy between the two names. If you look carefully, sometimes it's just a matter of an extra space, or hypen, or even a capital letter.

And, unfortunately, it's often impossible to remove the duplicate entry!
