I want to send these off to the SV (via GSDC-WDA), but I had issues getting the vet clinic to put the correct info onto the ID plate. Does anyone know where I can have the digitals printed out and have them put the RIGHT info on the x-ray? I hoped I could find a local company that would do it.

Also, what do you all think of the hips? The vet said they were good enough to send off, but wasn't sure what score they would get.

I want to send them to OFA and SV both and see what comes back from the two. However, that might not happen if I can't get the correct info on the films.

This is a 28 month old GSD

Hips look great--nice positioning--should be OFA "good" to "excellent" and the SV HD rating should be "normal".

Since the vet clinic screwed up, they should take another x-ray at no charge.

The SV does not accept digital radiographs.

You may look at the U of F school of veterinary medicine.  Alot of times large universities have access to equipment that you average vet does not.  I'll bet they have the capability to digitize, but it may be difficult to convince them to add information to an x-ray.

What ever happened to DR?

Your vet would have to be the one to include all info on the id plate that is the idea of the id plate... the x-ray cannot be altered after the fact.  I have used www.xrayexpress.net in texas to convert digital to film but he cannot alter anything you can send him your digital xray by e-mail and he will send you the film He is VERY nice and helpful and does a lot of work that is sent to the SV.

UF is who took the X-rays. They were great! Overall very good job, but they don't use ID plates. They print out the X-rays with text on the films. The first film only had the AKC # and I asked them to add the other info. The second film came back with the dogs nickname and my last name, no owner name, etc. I finally gave up at that point and figured I'd take the digitals and have someone print out the x-rays with the info I need. I guess that is out of the question?

I had the same issue with my dog's prelims at 14 months old.  I gave the vet the info I needed on the plate, but just about everything was wrong.  They didn't have her correct birthdate, tattoo #, reg #, or name (like yours, it was the dogs name and my last name)!!   It took a dozen phone calls but they finally fixed it and sent me a CD with the right information.  So somehow they CAN change it after the fact if it's digital.

By that point I figured I'd just wait and redo the x-rays when my dog turned to, to send to the OFA and Germany at the same time. When I went back, I gave the same list and told them the vet screwed it up last time - please make sure he gets it right!! And the second time around it was fine.  I sent the CD to x-ray express who printed them onto film, and I sent them to the SV who rated them with no problems.

The vet did complain about how strict they are and how so much needs to be on the x-ray - but how long could it take, 5 minutes to enter the right info??

This vet is about half the price of the others in the area ($285 vs $450+) and his positioning is really great - otherwise I would have gone elsewhere the second time around.

To my untrained eye, your dog's x-rays look similar to my female's, vet said good but probably not quite excellent, and they came back as "good" and a1.

PHGSD - That is great news to my ears! I was worried that the SV wouldn't take these type of films without the ID plates. So good to hear they do and I didn't waste money. I am going to use one of the online companies and have them print out the films with the correct info. I think it would be easier than asking UF to do it. They seem very hectic and busy there.

I will use the films I do have for OFA. They have just enough info for OFA to take them from what I read on their website.

Thanks!

You can "etch" the info onto the film.  I have had to do that before!  Wasn't fun or pretty but it worked.
