I would very much appreciate it if anyone knows how to get rid of fleas. I know there are a lot of products, but I don't know specifics. Name brands or home remedies, anything that will help without causing the dogs harm would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I live in Texas(the DFW area) and I know that its hard to get rid of fleas in Texas, so knowing things that DON'T work would be nice too.
Thank you,
Haley

Use something like Permanone on yourself to keep them off of you.
Spray everything else with a stronger concentration of the dip, read the label.
Bedding, dog houses, out buildings and the house.
Separate products are needed for the house, its a mess.
Many years ago I rented a house that had become infested. I still remember the smell of the bug bombs we had to use and spraying every single piece of furniture, beds etc.
You must at the same time get rid of any rats and mice on the property.
You should treat any and all animals you have at the same time.
You will have to worm again and probably do a repeat spraying later.
Fleas can be hard to get rid of once you have an infestation.
P.S.
I believe my vet furnished me with the chemicals at that time, maybe some came from the vets supply company that we had at the time.

.I bought also the 3 dollar can of flea spray from Dollar General...9 cans...and used it in house , on dogs, and the barn , and on porches. After the first spraying,,, ..I put granules on the cocker pen area , which is a fenced part in front of house and tomorrow I will coat with DE>>>It rained three days ago so I need to respray in a few days...I am so exhausted fighting all this ....i could shoot my neighbors...cant shoot the dogs...they disappeared while I was in Galveston...someone did me a favour....???

I got infected last month...neighbor moved and left behind 3 infested dogs..who stood in front of my property daily running fence and antiganizing my shepherd.s ..Fleas got on my dogs and not all had advantage...I was using Frontline Plus and all friends and vets are having major resiistance build up to it and it is doing no good.

...got it under control now...to the tune of over 400.00..my cost...my son in law rented a huge tank and used the firemans 4 wheeler to do my property...I then started the over spray..Odo ban kept the back kennels down the hill from getting any fleas...but the barn and nursery were bad...as soon as I left an took the dogs out...and Frontline plus is not working for me..
.used 15 bottles of Adams water base spray to keep nursery and pups clear....messy and expensive....
advantage is now working...

Fleabusters is, I think, a silica (?) that acts like razor blades on the pupae and larvae of the fleas. When they emerge from the eggs, which can survive atomic attack, the pupae and the larvae are cut by the silica and die. It takes about 10 days to two weeks to break the cycle. You sweep the powder onto your rugs and your wood floors, into the cracks and crevices of your upholstery, and let it sit. Then you sweep and vacuum it up after a period of time - don't remember exactly but maybe two hours? They say it won't work on wood floors but it does - I have board floors throughout the house and tile in the kitchen. There are cracks between the boards and the grout catches stuff too. The eggs slide in there and when you sweep the Fleabusters over your floors, the silica slides in after the eggs. When I did this years ago I didn't have kennels built outside but you can use this in kennels too.
I am not related to the firm, don't get anything for telling you this! I used it once in my house and the fleas were gone. Several friends have used it on my recommendation, and they never had fleas again. One treatment has lasted for 12 years for me, and another friend hasn't had fleas for 10 years. I may have done a second dusting two weeks after the first one, but basically that is one treatment.
I also have used nematodes in the garden to control the flea eggs out there. But it did not work that well. Breaking the cycle in the house ended my flea issues completely. My cats go into the garden, my dogs go everywhere in fields and woods. No fleas.

Warning: How long has Comfortis been on the market.?..how many people have used it for number of years with no effect on Liver..?
..not on my dogs will I ever use it...too many chemicals introduced by pharmacutical companies for intrusion into the blood system of dog...
fleabusters is probably DE with a commercial name....Much more economical to go to feed store and buy food grade DE...much cheaper...get a whole bag for 15.95(in Texas)
I want nothing to do with a chemical you can put in or on my dogs that works magic in one day or two hours and treats one -6 problems at one time....we have become a Nation of chemical dependence.

Its a whole different problem.
I like the smell of lemons and have used cedar shavings in my dogs bedding.
I don't care for a lot of harsh chemicals.

The OP said infested.
Or you could pay thru the nose and call an exterminator, and guess what they might be using.
